All I got was a blown head gasket.

That three pounds of boost is from that new hole in the charge cooler from the 10lbs of spray.

Nah, the 3lbs of boost is just to get me back to stock... because of the ECU in the thing, I lost 3 psi when I got a free custom intake manifold.

The boost gods? I think your true love would have to give all that stuff to ya. If I found a woman to give me that stuff I'd be really in love.

It would fit the song better to say 6 qts synthetic and a 5 pointed cage

Happy to. As anyone that has pulled an ms3 intake mani apart knows, they're possibly the nastiest basket of snakes currently on the market, at least on an i4. The #1 runner is blocked off by a VCTS, the runners vary like.... 20% between the 4. (I have the flowbench somewhere)... in other words, it's an utter train wreck. Even my porting guy was like WTF when they got it off the car. Anyhow, they go ahead and put the works on it, cutting out the VCTS, port matching all the runners, and re flow testing it and all of that to make sure it wasn't a suckbag part and they weren't totally hosing my car. After all was said and done, the mani gained ~100cfm overall with the runners going from 20% variances to less than 5. Short answer- car has a whole lot more air that it was designed to have. This is not a bad thing. What we DIDN'T know at the time (This was over a year ago, CP-E was the only big player on the plug and play custom tune market, and no Cobb OTS tune was going to work on it.... so we left it alone) was what the ECU was thinking about doing. Turns out, the ECU is torque based, and has static targets built into it for what it expects. SO- the car suddenly has a whole boatload of air it wasn't expecting. The ECU- not under any kind of alternate direction, says ok, we can work with this. To hit its self imposed goal, it decided it only needed 13psi out of the stock turbo, as opposed to the ~16psi that most people are seeing stock. So, I need my 3psi back... but the wife got laid off and we were running single income and two car payments, so all my toys got back burnered for the duration. Once I get a tuning solution (I just don't trust the Cobb after the whole OTS map fiasco) I'll be having it re-tuned to stock boost, possibly as far out as 18psi... depends on if I end up with a meth kit.

Oh- and the wife is back and work, and she WILL buy me these things. It keeps me away from her Mini.

get the AP, and tune it yourself with ATR. ATR makes the standback stuff look like kids games. the only people that don't like cobb's software are those that haven't taken the time to learn how to use it. you can't just make one change and get more boost, you have to change the boost target, the load target, and possibly also the wastegate duty cycle. all you can do with the standback is manipulate the wastegate duty cycle to get more boost and then you have to buy 47 different flashes to hold the throttle open or let you run more than 18psi.

Yeah, this was all prior to ATR. All Cobb had was the OTS maps.... and those did not make me happy.

I've had the AP since they came out, so I've seen the whole progression, and I'm pretty satisfied with where it has got to. Some of the early maps were real stinkers, that's for sure.

If I weren't posting from my iPhone I'd explain what happened to cause the first stinker maps.

I'd appreciate that if you do get the time. I get that the ATR is a sick piece of software, just a little leery of the AP itself after those early maps.
