So when I make an offer for $80 since I just need the rims and will have to pay to unmount them, he replies (by text) "price is firm".
So why the berkeley did you say or best offer??

I replied "fair enough but you might want to remove that or best offer from your listing then"
i like the people that say in the ad that they don't take emails- then why are they posting something up for sale on the internet?
another favorite: "if this doesn't sell by 5pm tonight the price is going up or i'll just keep it"..
What I liked was that even though they have a Honda center cap, the wheels look exactly like the VW wheels I have two remaining:

I understand this--they have a junk email account that they use to post the ads and never check it. It isn't as bad anymore, but the amount of spam that a craigslist ad used to generate was unnerving.
I responded to a for sale ad the other day for a cell phone. He still had it, so I asked for his address and phone number to make arrangements to pick it up.
He gave me his address, but no number because he said... I don't have a phone.

Which is why I wish people would remove their ad when it sells. Versus wondering if they just aren't checking the emails.
You want cheap Honda wheels? You can have the black ones in the second post for the same 50 I paid. You would have to come to sunny Imlay City, Michigan for them though. I brought them from Kansas so ot really isnt that far

That happened to me yesterday.
Guy posted a set of "Texas Edition Wheels: WTS or WTT"
I texted him with a cash offer, he replies "did you not read my post? I am looking to trade." I replied "Well, I read WTS, so I was assuming you wanted to sell them..."
He probably meant $125, or best offer OVER $125. People often don't understand what best offer really means, and never state their desire clearly.

Gosh, only 8+ hrs of driving and gas? What a bargain.

Ok. Ok. 45 dollars.
ya it seems so many people think OBO means or better offer... WTH would I offer MORE then you are asking?
in the past I have used a junk email... but I set it to forward to my primary account as long as I had something for sale... I don't bother now... but I do use a google voice so I don't use my "real" phone number.... only downside to that is I can't send pics via txt... but I prefer to send that on email anyway

My last craigslist ad was for $450 firm. A guy emailed, I told him he was 3rd in line, and I would let him know if the others passed. He emailed back that he would give me $500 Cash (as if I'd accept anything else for that little money?). I emailed the same thing back. He finally stopped after offering $550.

If I'm selling something, it's because I need the space and the thing being sold is too interesting/useful to just throw away.
So I'm interested primarily in getting it out of my way. If cranking the price up a little every week (instead of dealing with people who will wait a month to save $100) will get it gone faster, so much the better.
I usually get a couple calls a month asking if I've still got such and such car for sale on CL. I haven't even listed a car on CL in over two years. The last guy was calling about my Trans Am parts, I said I haven't listed any parts for sale but I had a stash of second Gen T/A parts. He was looking for third Gen stuff but we had a thirty minute conversation about T/A's...weird
