Car and Driver says they just announced the reveal for Dec. 5th. Is anyone here excited about the new Ford pony? I hope it doesn't just look like a 2-door Fusion.

So... whats the "big" styling change this time? Sticking the tail lights out even further? Or perhaps a historical progression:
I would say I'm waiting with baited breath, but when I really think about it, that sounds kind of gross.

Who cares. It's supposed to be lighter, faster, and have an IRS...Oh, and to answer your question, the rear end is reportedly tucked in more than the current version.

Haha this is what all the "leaked" images have shown.
It's a very important car for Ford. When the last major re-design came out they didn't really have any direct competition. The direction they take the car could have influence on the whole sector for a decade. Smaller lighter and better would be good for everyone whether you like the Mustang or not.

<nerd mode>
It's "bated breath", as in abate... waiting breathlessly. Which you may already know and have been playing with; I just see folks using "baited" a lot and for some reason seized on this instance.
I'd put a closing tag here, but suggesting I could turn off nerd mode would be an obvious lie...
EDIT: I think I'm just going to give myself a pass for a while, due to natural rage stemming from the OED redefining "literally".
I dont care if it looks like a Mustang, a Mistu, or a Hyundia, all I care about is MPG, HP, and PRICE.
Lately the Mustang has been winning those categories.
(For a car of it's type)

Thinking about buying one?

That's the important part. It matters little what internet board posters think, what matters is what actual paying customers think.

Watch Good Morning America on December 5. Should be revealed at 8:15 EST, by J Mays and Mark Fields.

Maybe that will be the on sale date? Surely the historical significance can't be lost on them...

Maybe 10 years in the future?
But you never know when your customer/market may get a new awesome paying job.
In reply to Javelin:
you really mean April 17, right?
no idea if anything will happen that day or not.

And I can't decide that until I see, touch and drive the real car. But what I'm seeing and hearing lately is encouraging.

I might be. Depends on a few things: Where I am in life at that point (career wise and life wise, will a baby seat fit in the back), and how it stacks up to a C5 Corvette at half the cost. While that is an unfair and certainly not a normal comparison, the Mustang very well might win it.
So I'm guessing that since the redesign is for 2015, Ford has once again changed its mind as to whether the first model was a 64 or a 65.
25th anniversary: 1990 30th anniversary: 1994 35th anniversary: 1999 40th anniversary: 2004 50th anniversary: 2015?
I spy The Hof in the back window. Much better than the zero-visibility little window and huge b-pillar from previous gen.

They never changed their mind. It was and is the fan base that is confused. The mustang came out on April 17, 1964, but all Mustangs were titled and VIN'd as 1965 models. The 50th anniversary is 2014.
