Dodge Long Hauler
A concept truck aimed at people who haul big things, long distances (a race car trailer for example) the Ram 5500 Long Hauler can be fitted to hold 170 gallons of gas. At $4.25 a gallon, that's $722 to fill it, although you will go 2,550 miles at 15mpg.
Gas, or diesel? It would seem odd for someone to buy a gas engined truck for long distance hauling.

It's diesel. See the be C on the front fender for Cummins?

I thought the C stood for "Gonna Cost a lot of money to fill this pig". Cool idea tho. cross country on one tank!

It seems Dodge finally saw the light... When they introduced the Mega Cab, it was only available with a 6' bed, so a company started doing 8' bed conversions with an extended frame. It was profiled in TDR back when I was a member.

Always wondered why Dodge stayed with the Cummins when they were owned by Mercedes.
Wow. Think of all of the Dinosaurs I could incinerate with that thing.

If I had one of those for my daily commute I'd have to go to the gas station about as often as I would if I had a Chevy Volt. Sure the cost of the fillup would be a lot higher, but think of all the time savings.

There were rumors Dodge would go to MB diesels back in the DCX days once the contract with Cummins ran out, but much like the "Probe/Mustang" idea way back when, there was "a little" customer resistance and it seems the idea was shelved. When MB bought Chrysler, there were more than a few Ford truck fans salavating at the idea of Cummins going into Fords... especially after the IH engine debacles... as a Ford truck owner at the time, I was one of them... and now that I own a Dodge Cummins, even more so... Great engine... crappy truck.
I really don't see the point. You can't go 2500 miles without stopping to eat or use the bathroom, so what's the big benefit? And it's 3 feet longer than my crew cab dually! No thanks.
Autoblog ran this feature a couple weeks ago and stated the range as 1600 miles, a pretty big difference from 2500!

Because you can. I ran the maths, and at an average of 65 mph and a range of 1,600 miles, you could drive continuously for more than 24 hours without stopping for gas. Disclaimer: Don't.
Does it come with an internal or external catheder option?

My wife would have to fill it up twice - a year.
The mileage and cost are my very rough, un-researched estimates. And yes, diesel. I use "gas" to cover any kind of fuel. My bad.
Also, stopping for a pee break can be quite a bit quicker than stopping for 55 gallons of diesel. Especially if you go to a truck stop.....

I think that it will sell to farmers that have a diesel tank on the farm, the taxes are much less on off-road diesel.
Holy Catfish that's a massive beast. Besides the who's-got-the-biggest argument, how does this improve on the big duals already available? They tried that with ships back in the day. It hit an iceberg. You may have seen the movie.....
I would take it over this:

LOL there is one of those things around town here. It is the single most massively USELESS vehicle I have ever seen (pun intended, sort of, or at least not edited out after I found it). I figure the guy's hootus is smaller than the ignition key.
Don't most pumps only let you pump $75-$100 at a time? That would be annoying.

Jesus. I was on the Mega Cab launch back in 2006... we went to a working ranch and towed big farking logs around. A lot of the guys couldn't even park ... imagine them trying to park that big bastard?
