Owning an abandoned house like that is more of a liability than a good deal. The house is probably in such disrepair it is a hazard and needs to be bulldozed, also if something isn't done, you have to deal with homeless people taking shelter in it and the possibility of someone being injured on your property. She probably did overpay :-/.

It is a cute house, perhaps they could find a way to make it cool for rich people to summer in Saginaw.

there is enough in that house to part it out. take out the wiring, copper is huge right now. any fixtures could be taken to the junk yard, then dismantle the house, and sell the wood slats for burning material. That fencing is probably worth a hundred or so...

That was my thoughts then sell off the lot.

After being vacant/abandoned for any length of time, I'd bet that the wiring and plumbing has already been stripped. The wood they used on those old houses is a better quality than what is available now, though, and would be great for certain projects.

Cheap houses abound. You just have to look where there are no jobs, and no future.

With the Michigan economy, the house that recently sold for $1.75 now has a market value of $1.50. And it will be on the market for at least 18 months.
