These cars have gotten to the point where they are like an old Ferrari, a significant portion of the value is in the serial number itself.
To this day, I continue to kick myself hard for not listing The Dirty 911 on eBay.
At least Mr.Joshua seems like a good guy...
wow... if I had a karman notch.. I would -not- lop off the roof. Eventually their prices will exceed the cab because so many were converted
Karmann coupes just don't get the respect that they should. I don't think that they will ever be worth anything close to what a cab is, though. I do like them and I kind of have a line on one that has been living in a storage container. Maybe someday...
I agree.. not as pretty as the regular coupe and certainly no where near as pretty as the cab or speedster.. but their quirkiness draws me to them. They have to be getting -very- rare
WTF??
Is it a new thing? Fishing out old Porsches that have stayed at the bottom of a river, and then putting it up for sell on eBay for an insane amount?
I could understand if they had some significant history (ran at Lemans, was the car of some famous person, etc.). But those are still pretty common cars (relatively speaking).
In reply to fanfoy:
Yes, but just like 23 window VW buses, a significant chunk of the 20 somethings that got them cheap and enjoyed them when they were just used cars are now filthy berkeleying rich with nothing better to do.
If that were a Hemi Mopar with the body tags intact it would already be sold. Same thing if it were a Shelby. My friends and I joke about having a shoebox with a Shelby VIN tag and door handle as a restoration project.
