My father in law has a 1964 Lone Star Medallion aluminum boat that he has been restoring while using it over time. He needs to restore the center sliding window in the windshield, which includes 2 specific issues. First, there is an aluminum C channel that surrounds the glass window piece. It appears that each of the 4 C channel pieces is held in place by some kind of goop - he needs to decide what kind of goop is appropriate. I'm confident we can ID something appropriate. Second and more concerning, the rubber gasket that seals the window is deteriorated and needs to be replaced. I have not successfully located anything close to an OEM seal. I have spoke to a few extruded rubber suppliers and manufacturers. Unfortunately the cost to do a custom die is about $500 - cost prohibitive for 4 feet of rubber gasket. Does anyone have any ideas for sourcing a gasket that would work? I added a few pictures to show what we are working on. I have spend a lot of time on McMaster and several other companies looking at extruded rubber profiles. Finally - I'm not even sure what type of gasket to call this - any ideas? It's not a P or a D - there has to be some term of art that might help my search. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
