I don't actually like their stuff a whole lot, but they were the only affordable multi-input DAC i could find, and i find that DACs don't have much sonic impact on my system. By that i mean i can't hear the difference between the Emotiva, Cambridge DacMagic, Peachtree, etc. They all sound better than no dac, though.
I've had an XPA-2 amp. It was... Powerful and loud. Would use in an HT setting. Was pretty bright and shrill though. Too much so for my ears and music.
How about some more detail on your voltage problem, maybe we can fix it? Is it on your side or utility's side?

No idea. It's a rental property. Probably the house itself. There's one light circuit in the house that seems to present a really big load when switched on for some reason.
