I've heard that the automatic is something new. Anybody got any info ?
Something new... like "Specially designed to enable the car to completely underperform".
It's a 6 speed automatic. I hit 5th gear at 32 mph, which then stretches all the way to 55. The shift points are designed for fuel economy. They NEVER let the car rev. First 4 gears are extremely short, then 5th is extremely tall. Completely avoids the meat of the powerband.
I liked everything about the car except the AT. Nobody around here has a manual. I'm looking for one to drive.
good luck finding a manual.. we know how much people in the US hate them
my local dealer (in Ann Arbor) had 2 manuals last Sunday when I went snooping. That was from a total of 5 cars, too!

There's 1 in ATL- just haven't gotten a chance to drive it yet.
But mad machine is right- they appear to be as rare as hen's teeth.
I'm betting when Per finally gets a chance to drive one, they'll get him in the seat of a manual (for maximum points in his review). But the AT is a completely different animal.
There's quite a few at my local Ford dealer here in Oxnard. I stopped by and saw probably 5 or 6. I believe they had some stickshift ones as well.
Today i stopped when I saw 6 cars out front of my local tiny dealership. Six cars all with automatic. One sedan even had leather interior and a nearly $20k sticker. The least expensive was $17k
