Projects this pony from the mirrors on either side of the car on the ground right in front of the doors. Pretty cool!

I'm really embarrassed to say that I drove it yesterday and didn't even notice that. Guess I was too intent upon the cones.
Great more weight and gimicky electrical junk to break. From the wanting manual brakes, steering, and gobs of HP guy.
To be honest, I was standing right next to it and one of the techs pointed it out. LOL I immediately looked under the mirror and there's a really small LED fixture under there where it projects from. If you wanna call 2 small 1/2" x 1/2" clear pieces of plastic and 2 LED's more weight... LOL

Given the propencity of the OE's to build the exact same car two years in a row, not change a thing, but can gain 100#....

I will wager $500 that 75% of people who would complain about that making the car heavier could afford to lose 2 times what the system weighs in bodyweight. I've got a coworker who could drop a few stone who. just. would. not. shut up about how he just ordered a titanium GP style exhaust for his R6 that'll save 20lbs. I lol inside.
It's a "surprise and delight" feature. It might not sell the car, but most people who see it think it's neat. Including me.

It's an option, so your car might not have had it.
I don't care either way, but my 11 year old and all her friends think it's the coolest thing ever. It's a great talking point whenever we get in the car in the evening.
Also to the cry baby weight whiners, it weighs nothing. Zip zero nadda. Why? Because the illuminated mirror feature is already there and on many other cars, call it the price of being competitive in the market place. All this is, is a mask to give a pony shape, not a full spread of light. Yes yes I realize that for you purists anything with more safety or comfort features than a model T is a nanny mobile, but for the rest of us who want to commute in comfort and safety, I'll take all the features they throw at us.

I drove a couple of GTs and a lime green Boss. Was reminded of how much I like that car, don't really care if can send the Bat signal or not.

Well it is kind of a gimmick. I drove a few myself, and while I forget which option package that thing came in, the salesman sure was keen on it...And the sequential tail lights. I walked out of that dealer pretty fast!
Ick. If that was on my 2011 Mustang I'd figure out a way to disable it or put duct tape over whatever aperture emits that flaming stupidity.

Why? Did those features make the car worse somehow?
Neat concept, the weight wouldn't bother me (what, maybe 1oz on each side?), but it does look kinda silly.
Wait until the rice aftermarket sees this thing...

Not all of us want the automotive vehicle equivalent of a traffic lane change arrow.
Oh and don't get me wrong, it's awesome there is technology to do this, but for cripes sake, it's a berkeleying Mustang!! Not a Suburban.
bravenrace wrote: ...And the sequential tail lights. I walked out of that dealer pretty fast!
Pretty sure the sequential lights are factory. Also, nostalgia.

No, but being as this is GRM where men are men, it must somehow weaken his sense of manliness? I can hear him mumbling under his breath as the left, "Real men don't need nothing but wheels, tires, wheels and a seat. And the danged seat is optional!"
But whomever commented on the electrical gimmickery was even better. I'll take an LED any day over the more traditional bulbs they've used in the past. Not only do they last nearly forever, but they are lighter and have a much less energy draw which frees up horsepower by not being such a drag on the alternator.
There are a lot of gimmicky things on some of the new cars and in theory I'm against many of them, but I do like my creature comforts and since a Mustang isn't exactly a slim, svelte racer but instead is a highway tourer, I guess it can afford to have a few.
I do prefer to look at sequential turn lights from the rear. It's a little easier to understand at a glance and by that I mostly mean when you are in traffic. I'll take anything I can get to help the idiot behind me understand what I'm about to do. I like lane change arrows, they get your attention and they work.

+1. Not every car we own is a race car. Not every car we own is driven only by us, many of us have spouses/children to share the car with and safety/convienence are big items. Yes, I prefer MY car to be without ABS, TCS, VSC, TPMS, NAVi etc.... but when the wife drives it everyday, I'm ok with a few more features ESPECIALLY lights, mirrors, airbags and crumple zones. She's a great driver, but those around her are not.

Agreed, I think it is a neat idea for a concept car or something but I think it is kinda cheesy for a real world application.

I realized that this season when I was debating whether or not to pull the A/C out of the 944. The A/C was still there when the car left, I'm down ~35 Lbs.
