The pentastars have issues with heads, valves, and rocker arms all cracking.

In reply to Sonic :

I thought those issues were on early engines and were corrected on later model engines.

I have a 2022 with the v6. I like it a lot. Lots of power, very comfortable, decent economy, unobtrusive nanny controls that you can actually choose to turn off, and Jeep offroadability. This summer we took it up to the trailhead of Mt Cheam which is 45 minutes of cross ditches, ruts and washouts. It was the only vehicle in the parking lot that was not lifted. It also tows 6000 pounds with no complaints.

Supposedly fixed on the later engines. I see posts on Reddit with newer stuff still devouring cams. Kind of like how GM said they fixed the timing chains on the 3.6Ls around '10 or '11 but they still had timing chain issues afterwards.

I'd also be leery of any Chrysler products because of Stellantis' fragile economic status. That being said, my friend has a Grand Cherokee 4Xe (hybrid) that he's leased, and he said it's never given him any trouble and I rode in it and it drove great and the ICE/electric crossover was pretty smooth. Mopar dealers have 4Xes stacked up like cordwood currently, and you might be able to get a real nice lease deal on one of those.

They're stacking up because of a recall that says "Do not plug in and do not park inside". Defeats the purpose of a plug in hybrid....

They weren't selling well even before that though. Stellantis has been dumping Wrangler and GC 4Xes on dealerships since they introduced them, and the average Jeep demopgraphic has pretty much outright rejected them.

Thanks guys.

GC is at top of my list when I decide to move on it.
