I've said since his firing the Lions won't prosper until they do right by Jim Caldwell... Ironically the discrimination aspects of Flores lawsuit and circumvention of the "Rooney rule" may well be overshadowed by his pay to tank allegations. IMHO this is bigger than Pete Rose betting on games he played in, especially since the NFL has embraced the sportsbooks and given it's blessing to gambling. Stroker hit the nail on the head.
Given who was available vs who they actually chose, Lions fans should expect at least failure until the Ford family are no longer owners. Or at least there's a massive generational change.
How in the world did Dan Campbell get more than guys like Eric Bieniemy or Byron Leftwich is beyond me. Both of the latter took their teams to the freaking Super Bowl. One of them coached one the most dynamic QBs with a great offense, the other took the GOAT to another SB championship. Campbell did nothing in comparison to that.
In terms of other teams, don't get me started with Urban Meyer in comparison. What a freaking disaster that was.

Was actually discussing that with a co-worker this morning. Our conclusion is that either ownership is using that franchise as a tax writeoff, (home games are almost never shown in N. Florida, because the stadium almost never sells out) or the front office is actively using recreational drugs on a daily basis. Urban Meyer never had that locker room, and he made sure he would never get it by bringing in Tebow for a tryout at TE imho, and I actually like Tim Tebow.

To me, the most egregious thing about the Caldwell firing was that it was done so they could hire Matt berkeleying Patricia. All because Bob Quinn was buddies with him.
As for MCDC getting the job over guys with better qualifications, I can see your point. But again, Patricia was a guy with ALL the credentials, offensive coordinator for a Superbowl winner, education, the whole thing. And he was a complete and total disaster. I don't mind them trying something different with Campbell, and honestly, so far I'm pretty happy with him.
SoFi stadium has been charging about $75 to park for the regular season ,
No idea how much for Super Bowl ,
Is that the same in your area ?
Found this......
- Standard size automobile: $120
- Limousine and Sprinter van: $240
- Mini-bus: $300
- Bus: $360

There's an article in the freep that the Lions are also guilty of circumventing the Rooney rule. Can't link to it but here's the title Agent: Detroit Lions conducted sham interview with Teryl Austin after Jim Caldwell firing EDIT: Got the link to work https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2022/02/03/detroit-lions-teryl-austin-interview-rooney-rule-jim-caldwell/6647135001/

And that's the kind of info that I expect.
While it was great that the Lions won some late games, there have been more than enough indicators that Campbell isn't a leader coach- you look at the very basic dumb penalties that they took even late in the season- I don't get the impression that they are really on a "play as professionals" path. Play hard enough to win some game, sure, but not focus so much that they prevent as many mistakes as possible- which closes the talent gap quite a bit.
We'll see, but I honestly have more suspect in the Lions top leadership for more than just the Lions.

I'm not sure the idea of a losing team continuing to lose in order to solidify a draft position is anything new.
But otherwise I agree the embracement of gambling in the NFL and the sports industry as a whole does bring into question some of the authenticity. That said, I'm sure the recent playoff games have given some bookies a bit of heartburn.
Bookies don't care who wins or loses. The line isn't what they think will happen. The line is set so that there is even betting on both sides. Then the bookies get pure profit off the juice with the losers paying off the winners.
Oh and yes I noted the talk that my Jaguars suck. I was talking to a Browns fan the other day and was embarrassed.

Agree to disagree. There were certainly some questionable in-game decisions, but I chalk that up to inexperience. I also noticed how much better the offense started performing when Campbell took over playcalling duties. But even early on, the team never looked inept. They simply weren't talented enough.

Well, that's a whole other conversation.

Sorry bruh.. But they are kind of a dumpster fire right now. Any news on the HC hire? Is Leftwich still in the picture?
In reply to 06HHR (Forum Supporter) :
That which doesn't kill me makes me stronger. We think the camara broke so there is no picture.
Looks like Doug Peterson is the jags new coach
In reply to Antihero (Forum Supporter) :
Yeah. Two months ago I think I would have been excited. Now I just feel beat down.

I really think Baalke needs to go regardless so I think Leftwich would have been a better choice.
If he eventually gets rid of Baalke Peterson could be a good hire.
It does sort of feel like Khan basically said " you can't tell me what to do!" with Leftwich though
I'm watching the Pro Bowl for the first time since... possibly ever. It's... interesting... I have always wondered how the game was treated by the players and the refs in order to reduce the injury risks. So it's practically a game of touch football - meaning pretty much every play is a pass play. And I don't think a single penalty was called. Nobody is really taking it seriously, but you can see they're out there having fun and occasionally the receivers make some great catches.
Okay, guys, time's getting short. Let's have your predictions for the game.
1. Who are you rooting for?
2. Who do you think will win?
I'm pulling for the underdog Bengals but I think it's going to be the Rams by 6.

Normally I'd be rooting for the Bengals. Underdog, team that's never won it and hasn't been in 30 years, midwest city with a rabid fanbase. Whereas the Rams are a superteam that was in the game a few years ago and won it this century, that abandoned their home city for a better deal (understanding that they were in LA before), playing in a city that doesn't give two E36 M3s about football. Plus, if the Rams lose, it improves my team's draft position.
But.... Stafford. Dude played his heart out for 12 years for my garbage franchise. He got painted with the "can't beat good teams" and "can't win in the playoffs" brushes because the Lions could never put a good enough team around him. He's not an all-timer, but he's a very good QB who was never the problem. And he played through a ton of injuries and just kept going and bringing it. He deserves a ring. So I'm rooting for him.
I don't really have a preference between the teams. Just hoping for a good game.
Would be nice to see the Bengals win this one, but my main hope is it doesn't devolve into a brawl like the Cincinnati-Pittsburgh game several years ago that caused me to stop watching football until this postseason.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
I'm torn, too- but would really like to see Stafford do really well. Hopefully, Cincinnati and Burrow can do better than Marino/Miami did in his career, and Stafford can go out as a SB winner. And I do like the Bengals.
Go Bengals!
Chase and Burreaux helped carry my fantasy team to a less than stellar top 5 finish in fantasy this year (8 team league). But, that's an entirely different coversation.
I'm a Seahawk for life, can't stomach rooting for an NFC West rival, even if I have a ton of respect for Stafford and Kupp.
In reply to birdmayne :
But, if I'm being honest, the Rams win by 10. Late touchdown or FG to ice the game and take it out of reach.
I want Stafford to win and I want broke back Ramsey to lose. So yeah.
