When I watch football, it is usually with my Father in Law who is in his college's hall of fame as a Defensive Lineman; he also coached at the youth, high school, and college level. He's in a walker due to a botched knee surgery; the knee surgery was necessitated by football. He rarely says stuff like that ("can't believe he missed that tackle"), but when he does, I assume that he knows what he is talking about.
I find it really funny though that my Mother in law - who was raised by a hall of fame high school football coach, who's brother and husband are in their college hall of fames, and who's son played D1 - asks me a question about football. She knows more than 99% of fans out there, she's just too... modest? to admit it. I know nearly nothing about football.
My grandpa was a highly sought after college football player back in the day before NFL players actually got money and I never really got a chance to talk to him about it.
It is cool though that I've got a letter from the LA Rams on my wall asking him to play for them though
Los Angeles Chargers: Harbaugh (2nd Interview)
Atlanta Falcons:
Seattle Seahawks: Vrabel?
New England Patriots: Jerod Mayo (Confirmed)
Las Vegas Raiders: Antonio Pierce (Confirmed)
Washington Commanders:
Tennessee Titans:
Carolina Panthers:
Is Bill going to take a year off or retire? I would have liked to be a fly on the wall during the Falcons interview. It was reported that nobody wanted to work for Bill currently still with the Falcons.
My guess is that the rest of the open positions are going to be Offensive Coordinators that have been successful.
In reply to trigun7469 :
Both Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn have interviewed elsewhere.
In reply to trigun7469 :
The Falcons interviewed both Harbaugh and Belecheck twice.
Harbaugh to the Chargers.
On one hand, I'm glad we won, and I'm glad we got to meet him after the original hype died down.
On the other hand, it's a bummer he's gone and he had NCAA issues that now go away.

I really hope they make it to the Super Bowl, but it's a tall order. However John Dorsey has built a lot of championship teams.
I can't get any Lions hate worked up. Goff is a Cal guy and a good dude, and nobody on his team really annoys me. Besides kicking them would kinda feel like going off on a soft, vulnerable puppy....
I like the Lions Niners match up.
The Lions corners are AT BEST horrible, withe Vildor being slightly better than Sutton in man coverage. Sutton gets a lot of passes towards him because he's always man on the #1. The Lions have shown a 4 safety look since CJGJ has been back that is pretty impressive because all four of those guys are world class quick where Sutton is a good space tackler.
The way I see it:
Lions O Line vs Niners D Line - Lions
Lions Running Backs vs Niners Linebackers - Niners
Lions Secondary vs Niners TE/Receivers - Niners
Niners O Line vs Lions D Line - Lions
Niners Running Backs vs Lions Linebackers - Niners
Niners Secondary vs Lions TE/Receivers - Lions
It's going to be a neat game.
i bought tix for the viewing party at Ford Field. taking the fam. should be fun. i think we match up pretty well with SF.

Not so much trash talk but I had a thought about trades/acquisitions.
First, I think Jerry Jones is highly motivated to get another Superbowl now. Let's assume (for the moment) Bill Belichick signs with Atlanta. If I were Dak, I'd look at a Belichick-led Falcons and say to myself, "That's a coach and dome team I wouldn't mind playing for...". The Falcons have cap space. Might the Cowboys be willing to add a low draft pick to sweeten the deal ini light of Dak's cap hit? Then the question becomes who to replace Dak? I think Kirk Cousins might be the answer and he might be willing to take a slight pay cut to go from an uneven Vikings squad to a superior Cowboys team as a better chance for a ring in the time he's got left, especially with a motivated Jerry Jones.
Now if you really want to get weird, then what about tossing a draft pick to Green Bay and signing native Texan Aaron Jones as a free agent? I don't know about you guys, but with Mike McCarthy having a figurative gun to his head in 2024 to deliver, a Cowboy squad with Kirk Cousins (with Trey Lance as a backup) and Aaron Jones sounds formidable, to me. I'll grant you the Cowboy's have their cap space issues, too, so maybe Jones is a bridge too far...
Personally, I wouldn't put much value on Aaron Jones. He's been a good back, but he's also at the age where running backs tend to fall off a cliff, production-wise.

True, dat. I don't know the current availability of FA running backs..
Now that Bill Belichick shot his load and missed in Atlanta I'm hoping that he's done as a coach in the NFL.

I'm actually surprised like..... Carolina didn't just throw a billion dollars at him

Bill belichick was 47 and 57 without Brady. He is a sub average coach without a hall of fame quarterback
Disappointed how the Baltimore game ended up, but fun game to be at, place was rocking, and not hateful weather.
I feel a little better after watching Detroit blow a 17 point lead. How does that happen?
That was tough to loss, all down to two close plays- one where the defender has the ball in his face, only to be caught by the receiver. And then the mental breakdown on the Lions first offensive play to let them tie it up. Mental collapse. By everyone.
Tough way to lose a game, but it was still a great season. And I'm still in on Gamblin' Dan. The first 4th down they went for should have been converted, Josh Reynolds just dropped it. The second one was more iffy, but with our marginal kicker, it was no guarantee that they'd hit that field goal anyhow. Besides, they wouldn't be where they were without his aggressiveness.
On to next year, and let's see if we can sign or draft a big body receiver and a real #1 cornerback.
It came down to who do I hate more. I don't want KC to win another one so I thought SF was the better team to beat them. Also answers the question of what would have happened last year. I'll take SF.

Right now, D improvement is more important than offense. IMHO.
Cam Sutton can eat a dick alongside number 8, whatever the berkeley his name is. Catch, then run. It was still fun to be at Ford Field for the game. This is clearly a first-half pic.

I think the Brady vs Belichick argument is your basic internet debate, and not something that can be resolved just with win/loss records.
If you stuck TB after the first Super Bowl win into the role at Tampa would he have been as successful, hard to say, but I'd guess not. Did the experience and knowledge gained in NE help him to succeed in Tampa, sure. would he have reached that level someplace else, who knows?
Was Bill able to focus on D and make due with marginal offensive talent in later years because of Tom, sure. Once Tom left that approach didn't work and it takes time to restructure. Would he have taken a different path building the team without Tom, probably, would it have been as successful, doubtful.
Personally, I think neither would have gotten the success they did without each other, and it was only their time together that led to the success in NE and provided the time and environment for Tom to reach his potential.
