Just a few minutes away from the Ravens and Chiefs kicking off the 2024 NFL season. What's your team going to do this year?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but for the Lions, it's Superbowl or bust. We were close last year, and expectations are high. Feels weird, to be honest.

It does seem weird to say Lions and super bowl in the same sentence.

I hope the browns can use 60% less QBs than last year. 5 QBs starting last year was a bit much. They should be a playoff team again but I don't think they have enough to get past the first or second weekend. Meanwhile, My local team (Chiefs) looked good in the first game and are off to a good start. I'm not a huge fan but they are likable.

Honestly, I want the niners to win it all just to get Purdy a ring. Being an Iowa State person, It's always fun to see a cyclone really succeed in the league and I've been a fan of Purdy since the first day he stepped on the turf in Ames.

Wow that KC/Baltimore game was a heck of a kickoff to the season.

I'd also love to see SF get over the hump and win a Superbowl. This current iteration of the team seems to have all the right ingredients but also has the ability to run into a buzz saw at the worst possible times.

Sleeper pick for a deep playoff run: Rams. With Nacua and Kupp healthy, Stafford throws for 5000 yards in a league that seems to want wide receivers to succeed at all costs. It's gonna be "greatest show on turf" flashbacks.

I just don't get it. You're up 24 to 3, halfway through the 4th quarter, and you are still playing your overpriced, delicate QB. (Aaron Rodgers) WTF anyway?

Well. I blew that prediction on the patriots and jets.

reps for both him and the receivers.  Remember, he hasn't played for a while.  Might as well get practice against a fast but swiss cheese defense.

Pats are going to ruin their young QB.  Mostly because is going to get broken many times with that offensive offensive line.  They were terrible as a unit.

It's like being a Pats fan in the 1980s and 1990s all over again.

Lots of hope, even though I know they are probably going to disappoint.

If you were ever wondering what it would be like to watch a professional football team try and play a game without an offensive line, just watch a Patriots game this year. I fear for the life of whatever QB they trot out there any given week. Life-threatening injuries are on the table.

They need to sign a veteran backup QB to take Brissett's place when he (inevitably) gets injured. Maybe sign another one to the practice squad, too. They absolutely cannot trot Maye (or Milton III, for that matter) out there again this year with whatever this is for an O-line. He will be ruined in short order, or worse.

My theory is that any nfl qb can do a decent job given protection. As such, a good o-line is one of the very best investments a team can make.

Given they are one game into rebuilding the D after loosing Hutch, they were reasonably solid. And putting up over 30 on that D is also solid.

Both can and need to be better, but a win on the road is pretty nice, especially in the division.

Quick check-in on the Pats:

They are now 1-6, are starting Drake Maye (who has been pretty good so far), but the rest of the team and coaching staff is atrocious. At least they found out now that they have a QB they can build around. It's the worst I have seen since the pre-Bledsoe days. This team STINKS. Not fun to watch at all. Hope Maye keeps getting his reps in and doesn't get hurt.

Coach Mayo called the whole team "soft" today in the after game press conference. And he specifically called out one of the rookie receivers (Polk) who has been particularly awful, and he reacted by giving a peace sign on social media, basically quitting the team.

The wheels have come off the bus and the frame snapped in half, and we still have half a season to get through.

Yikes.

Yeah sending the Pats and the Jags to play in London seems like a great way to destroy international relations with an allied nation.

I just don't see a complete effort on either team at this point. Lawrence is still talented and enthusiastic, but he's runnig out of supportaround him, either by lack of ability or just lack of engagement.

Oh well, maybe their new $3bil stadium reno will fix everything.

You are not going 0-17. So things could be worse. Given you have more SBs than anyone else, I'm sure you can look back on those good old days. Aka- nobody feels sorry for you.

Especially Lions fans.

lol.

While they did win a lot in more recent memory, I do remember when they were bad. They were really bad for a very long time, and this season feels a lot like the bad old days before they drafted Drew Bledsoe and most games were blacked out from TV broadcasts. I had no inclination they would be good this season, but this is the very definition of a train wreck. It cannot get much worse.

And for the record, I'd love to see the Lions win one. I always felt bad for that team. They seem to have their stuff together, so who knows!
