Baalke is gone!  Guess Kahn finally realized that he was the reason people didn't want to take the job.

Probably should have done this while there were still coaches on the market, but this will probably be an upgrade nonetheless.

Looking at the free agent list for 2025, the biggest appeal to stay here are the players.  The promotions that will be offered will be the Lions or the Bears/Jets.  Maybe it's me, but the Fords have finally figured out how to run a team, whereas the Bears and Jets are in long term turmoil.  Meaning if a lower coordinator does want to become a HC, the best option would be to stay with the Lions.

Still, coordinator churn is part of the business.  How many OCs and DCs did Belicheck go through for all of those rings? I know we burned through a few of them here in Detroit.

Looks like the D Line coach is going to the Patriots to be their DC.  That's 3 out of 4 "good" coaches not going to be there next year so far.  As far as Belicheck how much was that him or riding TB.  Man I hope I don't have to do any more Patriot talk.  I need to go wash my mouth out.

Brain drain and talent poaching was a very real thing for the Patriots during those years, yes... We'd never have coordinators or coaches stick around for more than 1-2 years, so it was constant flux.  That's why it's so important to have a system that's driven and directed by the head coach and not just coordinators... and also FWIW- 99% of all coaches under bellichicks tree were unabated trainwrecks of head coaches... so maybe you got that same thing going for you in Detroit, haha.

I'm really rooting for a Commanders-Bills super bowl.  Both of those fanbases are great, especially after all of the Dan Snyder asshattery.

Bllicheck commented how it's bad for a team to have coordinators being interviewed during the playoffs I agree, with that. Why the jets are going with another defensive coordinator with the constant issues on the offense, doesn't make a lot of sense, however they are about as dysfunctional as my Browns.

That's how I'm going to picture Shad Khan from now on. it's canon.

Looking forward to Coen doubling the Jags' number of wins and turning them from lousy to merely mediocre.

I don't see the Lions taking a safety that early, either. They are pretty set at that position between Joseph and Branch. I'd like to see them draft some depth along both lines.

Man the 49ers better not draft anything else besides OL or DL with their first pic

I am pretty sure I am OUT on watching the Super Bowl this year, which may be a first since I started watching sports as a kid. We all know how this will end. I think I'll play video games instead.

Well now I feel bad.  I thought above was a poor photoshop to put them in front of the tree.  I just watched his press conference.  His left eye is just lower than his right.

Maybe it gives him a unique perspective of the field?

I'm a little bummed that he ghosted the Bucs like that and I would have loved to see Mayfield actually spend two years with the same (good) OC, but the guy clearly has a family to feed and in pro sports you gotta get paid while you can, so I get it. What I really don't want is to see a promising young talent get ground up by the Jacksonville mediocrity machine.

It was funny watching his introduction.  He did coach speak with youthful energy.  I did notice that when they asked him if he said he wouldn't work with Baalke he shook his head no but never denied it with his words.  Way too many people are pointing out the names of his sons Jackson and Callahan (small town 30 minutes away).

Another great year to be a Browns fan, with one of the best players on the team and best defensive players in the league wanted out of the team.

I think the best team for him would be the Commanders, rookie QB contract, decent team, have the cap, decent ownership, just need to beat the eagles.

49ers are trying hard to get Garrett. But the biggest thing that they missed this year was Christian McCaffrey. In a time when Running Backs cary less value than when I grew up, he's an exception - was the difference maker in their superbowl run.

Garrett and Bosa would be a hell of a pass rush!

Injuries, crap OL and interior DL, and a sucky kicker were most the problems. At one point they were on their 5th string RB and the healthiest WR was the guy that got shot in the chest 2-3 months earlier.

The OL has been horrid for a few years but now is exceptionally putrid. Williams is fading, Banks and Brendel are terrible, Puni was awesome but McKivitz is just ok.

Interior DL was awful, they were starting a guy they traded a 7th for and whomever else was off the practice squad. Without Greenlaw and with Fred Warner playing on a fractured ankle all year they had no defence against the running game.

Moody is terrible, I think that if he made his FGs the 49ers won somewhere between 4 more games IIRC? The guys they brought in when he was injured were arguably better

McCaffrey is a hell of a weapon but it wasn't everything that was wrong with the team. They drafted poorly ( Pearsall wasn't even the best WR to draft) refused to invest in their offensive line, got rid of Arik Armstead( which would have been HUGE for their interior d line) and really should have sat Moody, who sounds like was actually still hurt the rest of the season. Some weird " I know better than you guys do" stuff with Shanahan like starting Brandon Allen......with a hand injury and using Moody......who is injured instead of using healthy players that aren't really much worse than the healthy people they are replacing was also dumb.

We're allowed to talk trash about our own team right?  Some cussing so be warned.
