I'm surprised that nobody has posted that Toyota is recalling 2M cars for faulty accelerator pedals. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2010-01-21-toyota-recall-gas-pedal_N.htm

This isn't the carpeting in the pedal problem, but something more. IMHO, they two recalls are related- the carpeting thing was a smoke screen for a much deeper problem.

Then again, I'm always happy to point out that Toyota isn't as great as everyone thinks they are...

I saw it coming as well. Sad really.

Sad that people are getting hurt, no doubt.

Dissappointing that Toyota doesn't seem to be doing their homework.

The article says Toyota only not Lexus. In the highly publisized case, the California Officer was drving a Lexus. I am not trying to be conspacy theroy guy, but I think there are "gohst in the machine" type flaws in "throttle by wire" that are not being addressed. I have said this since the very first time this California case came to light.

I've been shouting this for several years.... since somewhere around 2002. Toyota has been focused on selling more cars than GM, and that was it. Sadly, they became GM in more than one way. Quality has been slipping, products are boring and they aren't the same Toyotas people bought in 1994.
