An IRS weighs a lot? More than a stick axle? Really?

As for "pulling a fast one," you're the one who mentioned the 2012/13 Mustang with the new V6.

But, I'm done here. You've already disproved your own original hypothesis that the Challenger weighs "only 100#" more than a Mustang. (It looks like it's closer to 300 pounds more.) I never said that an old V6 Mustang was fast. I said it was lighter than the Challenger, and that the old 4.6L V8 Mustang would be more fun.

And, if you're comparing the V6 Challenger to the V8 Mustang (which is where I'm assuming you're getting the 100 pound figure from), the Mustang would certainly be faster, hands down.

Actually it's really silly to argue over numbers.

2011 Mustang V6 0-60 in 5.1 and 1/4 mile in 13.7
2011 Challenger Pentastar V6 0-60 in 6.3 and 1/4 mile in 14.7

Don't start bringing up tunes or modifications or anything since those can be done to any car.

Yeah dude, I thought this thread was about, oh, I dunno, the Pentastar, or something like that. Not sure where I got that idea.

Yeah, that suxxors.

Pentastar problems: we have seen quite a few with left (front on FWD) bank misfire codes from sticking valves. The cam phasers occasionally barf, altough we haven't seen one of those in a good while.

Otherwise it's tough and punchy, it'll move a Ram 1500 surprisingly well.

The 6 speed in the minivans will cook the direct clutches at times and the shift pattern hunts like a drunk Dick Cheney. The 6/8 speed in the RWD apps hangs together well.

I had one in a rental minivan. That engine and trans combo really impressed me. The rest of the van was good but the engine was great.

Dood, that shift pattern impressed you? I get complaints about it all the time, harsh 1/2 upshift, it'll go into 5th gear in a Wal Mart parking lot and if it has to drop 2 cogs on a downshift it feels like you ran over a concrete block. But yeah I hear a lot of positive comments on the engine and the interior quality is MUCH better that it used to be.

One other gripe I hear: road noise. That's a Grand Caravan thing, the Town & Country drivers never mention it. Must be a big difference in the sound deadening package.

My Caravan is good from a noise and shift quality perspective.

What year is it? If it's a '10 or later, did you have the M38 reflash thing done?

It was a rental. So proper throttle application is like a light switch.

'11, and not to my knowledge, but it was a previous rental, so Hertz may have. The only thing I noticed is that if you drive with an egg under the pedal on ECO mode, the gas mileage is 'okay'. If you give it quarter throttle or better and leave if off ECO, the gas mileage is fantastic.

I have always liked Wranglers, so I traded my fullsize Ram in on a 2012 Sport. I really wanted a 2013 so I could get the Commando Green but the only one I could find was an auto. So I bought a 2012 Black Forrest Green with the NSG-370 6 speed. I really wanted the manual because it's the only application (for now) that you can get with the 3.6L. For Jeep, it really scoots. My Sport weighs about 3760 lbs according to a few intarweb sources. It's plenty quick for a brick. 0-60 is estimated at 6.6 seconds. And you can take the doors and top off

I like the Challenger a lot but personally I'd spring for the 300S with the Pentastar/8 speed combo. It's rated 19/31 and looks pretty decent to boot:

Went to look at the 20K mile 3.6L 2011 Challenger SE (Friday) yesterday, it was sent to auction just the night before after sitting on the lot for 60 days. BTW, only one guy tried to buy it but couldn't get the financing. Coulda had it brought back to the dealer by this Monday before the Wednesday auction but changed my mind on the drive home. A little over my slush fund car budget too. Beautiful driving day w/ cool cars a plenty... muscle cars, street rods, lead sled, a string of MGs and Triumphs... and a Lambo rowing thru the gears. In all, an awesome car day. Made me think practicality (even at 305 ponies) of the SE vs cool car factor... at the end of the day that SE will still be a V6. Showing some old school V8 bias here. If the SE came back at reduced price I might reconsider but for now searching Mustang GTs and GTOs.
