Well Damn, it looks like I may be joining the 3d printer club this holiday season. I forgot Amazon had an order on one, and while I couldn't find that deal, I did find the XYZprinting daVinci series.
Good reviews around the internet, 6x6x6 printing area with a self leveling bed, sub $200 purchase price, and (hackable) proprietary filament cartridges.
Once I make sure bills are covered and I'm done shopping for the little tyke, I think I'll be able to afford it for a Xmas delivery date. I should probably find space for it in the house before purchase though.

The titanium will make DIY carbon fiber tube frame vehicles a print the joints and then you have an erector set.
Very cool.
edit: Found this Desktop Metal
Metal 3D printing is a bit of an environmental disaster at this point. Wait until the tech develops. Still reliant on much post processing to get the part right, but getting better

I'm looking forward to that day. I follow the development a bit on the printers since I get a lot of manufacturing and tooling publications at the office due to the nature of my work and interest from my previous career. The tech has come a long way in a short time. It would be cool to just print the joints and buy the carbon fiber tubes (whose printing tech has also evolved pretty quickly) then assemble.

I pulled the trigger on the Anet A8!
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on one of these myself. Decided the larger, heated bed was worth the extra $20 than the davinci mini.
Now that it's been a few months, still like it? Any problems?
Any opinions on this one (Not a canoe, just looking for input)?

Ditto on the previous careers. My recent foray into the peddle power for speed (no challenge car for me in the foreseeable future. Between taxes, storage, and work space, I would have about $5k in a challenge car if the car itself is at budget. Maybe one of the Cyclecars...) is leading me down the 3d printing path more and more. Carbon fiber tubing available at Hobby King, a very nice used bicycle dealer nearby for drivetrain parts (like 3 blocks from my house, Bike Club Bicycle, 438 S Washington St, Falls Church, VA 22046, (70three) 5three2-4one16, like a total GRM place in the bike world. If you are in the area you gotta check this guy out. Yes this is a total canoe for a local business I am in no way affiliated with other than being a customer) and a 3d printer makes things very interesting.
The "low" volume stuff we did for Mercedes back in my automotive days ("low" is less than 100,000 units) the Desktop Printer business model would have done well. Pricey for home use now, but soon.
I have a 3DSystems Cube. I bought it for $150 when they were having a close out on them. It is ok but the filament breaks in the cartridge way to easy and the materials is proprietary. I want to get a Monoprice printer and do some mods to it.
At my old job we had a Stratasys Mojo (bit of a pain in the ass in terms of reliability) and a 3DSystems Projet 2500 which was a beautiful machine that I loved. Biggest thing I miss about my old job.

What attracts you to the Monoprice printer?

I have read several good reviews of them. There are some easy tweaks that improves them quite a bit, they use standard material and they are cheap. Also my experience is Monoprice makes some pretty good stuff for cheap.
I've been wanting to buy a 3D printer for several years now and finally pulled the trigger.
I ordered a CREALITY CR-10S about a week ago...Waiting for it to make its way from China. It has an active FB group, a lot of good YouTUBE reviews and a 12x12x16 print volume.

Hey Prusa i3 and Anet A8 owners, question for you:
How did you get your Y limit switch installed?
Without *really* bending the legs on the switch, I can't make it fit where the diagrams say to.
Just bend them and treat it as a wear item like most of the internet does? A shorter legged replacement switch?

Anybody know what's up with the monoprice website? I can't connect to it. Maybe it's one of first casualties following the net neutrality vote today?
Edit: Nevermind, it just came up for me.
