$44,995 Chevy Sprint
I have an Ebay search for Chevy Sprints (because I want a turbo one day). This one popped up. At first I thought, must be a "test" auction or something. Then I looked at it....
1) Hmmmm, looks really clean....
2) But not some low mileage one.....
3) Rear wheels look kinda funny.....
4) Wait, why are they so fat?
5) That's a HUGE transmission tunnel.
6) What exactly is under that hood?
7) And air filters in the trunk?
8) Good golly, those are two turbos!!
9) (Scrolls back up to the description). A 402? Twin turbo? In a SPRINT?
Wow!
This 1988 Sprint was professionally reconstructed from the ground up in 2007. Fatman Fabrications, Charlotte NC, built a custom square-tube street rod frame that incorporated the unitized body. They used Macpherson strut front suspension and Nissan truck brakes. The differential is a narrowed Ford 9" with Detroit Truetrac and 2:50:1 gearing. The engine is an all-aluminum, twin turbo 402ci dry-sump small-block built by Duttweller Performance, Ventura CA. Only the best components were used: Brodix block/heads, Comp roller-cam, forged crank/rods, CP pistons, twin Precision Turbos and Big Stuff3 EFI. This engine dynoed at 954 BHP on pump gas. The transmission is a GM TH350. This is a one-off monster and it's street-legal. Every aspect of the build is fully documented (including dyno sheets).

Holy Hell! that is some insane fab work there.

I had to click on the link to realize justhat what was going on. It was only then I realized it had mickeys and skinnies. That...is gorgeous.
Seems like a cage might be a good idea in a car that's almost guaranteed to try and flip itself right over. Also 954 HP????!!!! IN THAT!!????

I seem to remember that car be offered a couple years back. And yes it is crazy.
Canada got the turbo car for a few more years - they are still rare here though.
Wheelie bars might also be a good idea, although those would ruin the sleeper look.
954hp through a Turbo 350???? HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things I noticed that made me giggle like a little boy:
1 - the transmission tunnel is clearanced.....for the driver's right leg!
2 - The stock tail pipe is sticking out from under the bumper.
3 - Wheel covers!!

Didn't someone on here build one of these in a build thread?
In reply to Ranger50:
To be fair, it doesn't weigh anything and if you can afford an all aluminum SBC build you can afford a max built TH350 that's probably good enough in something that light.
If we are being fair... $44999 is still just as ridiculous for that as for a stock Sprint.
900hp and a 2.50 rear gear gives a theoretical top speed in the quarter of...let's see...
ONE MILLION MILES PER HOUR

That'd be me. It's not finished yet - building a shop took precedence for now. I'll be back on it over winter.
I'm still under the $2000 mark.
I'm thinking it should get stellar fuel economy with those 2.50s and tall tires despite not having overdrive.
As a bonus, you can do an entire quarter mile run without shifting!
(launch in 2nd to keep the front tires close to the ground...)

I think if you ran that hard with slicks, it would twist so much all the window glass would pop out.
Whoever took those pictures has a sense of humor. Pictures of the pristine door cars take precedence over anything mechanical. And that stock exhaust pipe is fantastic.

Loved the stock exhaust hanging there as well. I'm guessing the sleeper look evaporates about the time the v8 rumbles and the blow off valves go.
It's pretty cool as static engineering art, but would anyone drive it more than once or twice?

That thing actually looks very cleverly built. I love the sleeper look. I would not want to drive it or own it, but I'd like to crawl around it and look at it.
