See those vents on the rear fenders? That's the air intake for the engine. Once after a big rain, in my '68 I took a turn WAY too fast, only to find about 2'-3' of water covering the street for about the next 1000ft. I was going too fast to stop, so I downshifted to second and floored it. The car slowed down quite a bit with the initial hit of the water, but then it just motored on through. The water was almost up the the chrome side molding. The best part was driving past all the people that were stuck in their cars, 3/4 of which were 4x4 trucks. By the time I got through I had an inch or so of water in the floor due to rusty pans, but that just drained back out the same rust holes.

That looks like an FJ40...which explains why it didn't stall halfway through!

Well, the snorkle and diesel explain why it didn't stall. Though I've crossed water above my headlights without stalling once.

I went through deeper water than that in my old beater Omni.

I went on a tour of Lancaster castle in the UK a few years ago - it was a prison in the early 1700s. For the baddies, they sent them to the penal colony (Georgia). That explains some things....

That seemed to come very close to a drowning clip.

I lost my lower bumper plastics on the F150 fording this flood. (A different area of it.)

Other people had different ideas. The person in the car that decided to drive through it... well they failed.

Another gentleman thought he would swim in it. This is sewage water. I'll count that as a fail as well.

The people on the makeshift boat aka an air mattress with brooms ended up running from the police. The officer was not dumb enough to go through the water. Win for the captain of that ship.
