Also. a Gumpert Apollo.
About 15 of us at work went in on some tickets. I can honestly say I'd live in the same house I do right now so my 10 yo can stay in the same school and still be near all his friends. BUT I would buy an old service station , hire a mechanic or two and start racing immediately!! Donate a bunch to charity and probably start my own non-profit.
Wow. I might snag some if you guys' ideas. Island was on the list...but "Island with 'squadron' of (x)'" sounds way cooler.
Assuming it was not part of the contract, I would no longer be a U.S. regardless of whether I owned said island, or just lived like a lottery pimp there.

So, you have 10 houses or so and have your own little private neighborhood of your closest friends and family. I've always wanted my own race track, with that scratch a $25M race facility wouldn't be that hard of a hit. Add to that the ROI using it as a business for test track and race events, it just makes sense. I'd have all track lighting and all paddock facilities run off wind turbines and solar panels. Try to make it as off grid as possible.
I have had this exact thought. That's pretty much what I would do if the quick pick I bought this morning hits the 1:175M odds.
I'm still trying to figure why some ultra-rich person doesn't just buy all the numbers - if the odds are 1:175M and the after-tax cash payout is something like $235M seems like the only risk to a $60M payday is that some other person gets lucky and guesses the right numbers. Most people would take a 1:175M chance of losing for that kind of return. Then again, it'd take a long time at the Quickie Mart to buy that many tickets...
After paying off my school loans and setting aside a bit for myself (maybe a million) I'd invest the rest and try to make a billion. A million is too easy to make anymore.
My investments would likely include real estate and a whole bunch of stuff in the renewable energy sector. I'd also maybe try to make a telecom company that didn't suck.

The odds of multiple ticket winners at this point also works against your theoretical idea, as the projected ticket sales far outweigh the number of possible combinations, even without someone trying to game the system by buying all by themselves.
1) Lawyer
2) Money man i can trust
3) Bigass stick to beat all the new found relatives.

Lots of tax shelters in the Caymans. S'why most of the yachts down in the Keys are registered there.

Hmm... what to add to my list...?
Did I mention I want to date Mila Kunis?

Screw the TV show, I would just make my two best buddies buy stupid cars with me (using my money) to go on epic adventures with! Forget the film crew, I just want to do the playing.
I have a feeling the film crew would be worth it for the aircraft version... "What's the best piston-engine fighter for under $2.5mil?"
I like to really get my money's worth of entertainment when buying lotto tix. I don't look up the winning numbers for a few days at least, gives us more time to come up with fun pipe dreams. I think I'll go get a couple and when the announce a winner that hasn't stepped forward, y'all will know who it is...
I'd buy a big expanse of land with a small mountain. I'd pave two roads to the top, as well as road course type of track. I'd build a camping area with lean to's big enough to fit your race car under cover. I'd invite all my hill climb buddies over and we'd race up that mountain when ever the hell we want to. I'd probably buy a fleet of rally cars built to a certain spec. You donate 40 hours of work to your favorite charity, i'll set you up in a rally car for an event complete with everything you need including crew and entry fee and let you have at it. I'd also tour the country in an effort to do an automotive event in every state of the country.
I think I'd also find a lancia stratos and see if it's worth owning one.
They just said that if you buy 50 tickets, you have the same chance of winning as being struck by lightning.
Up to $640 mil this morning and the states are expecting a crazy run on tickets because today is A: Friday and 2: PAYDAY.
How high will this go?
According to Jamie McMurray (in his Autism PSA), I have a greater chance of winning the lotto than winning the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 in the same year!
Good I guess?

I was at a gas station over lunch- it was crazy.... no, wait, that's me.
I was the only one there.
How awesome would it be to forego the whole 20-year-long "First we got divorced, then my "friends" and family bled me dry, then I got hooked on drugs and gambling, then I found Jesus" deal, and just go directly to "Honey, we just won $640 million, let's smoke some mother berkeleyin CRACK, DAWG!!!"

I've been struck by lighning twice. Does that mean I only have to buy 25 tickets? If I hit, I will have the meanest, fastest EP RX7 you could build. I would also donate a significant amount to my church, set up my kids with trust funds and party like crazy.
To repeat myself- Great Whale Cay. Berry Islands, eastern Bahamas. 850 acres, 4000' airstrip, lots of history. Fantastic fishing, the all time most peaceful place I have ever been. 4000sf main house that needs a bit of freshening. This is where I will be. On the market for 80MM.

You gonna hold a GRM Island Race there and transport all our cars for us?
You'll need to log in to post.
