Okay this is a pretty resourceful bunch and I'm running into a wall here. I just purchased a 69 Suburban 1/2 ton 4x4 and am trying to find production numbers for it, unfortunately I just keep finding this same table listed on multiple sites, which has 2wd, but not 4wd. http://outintheshop.com/prodnum.html
A few more details on the burb...69, 4x4, 1/2 ton, 350, 4 speed, white roof with turquoise body and turquoise interior.
If any of you guys know prod numbers for the 4x4s I'd love to see them.
I'd bet its not very common. I hardly ever saw a pickup of that vintage with 4wd until I spent a winter in the mountains when I was a young feller.
That chart is supposedly from the 3rd edition of the Standard Catalog of American Light-Duty Trucks. I'll be able to check that book tonight at the main Toronto reference library and I'll let you know what I find. (Worst case, you will know exactly as little as you do now.) Meanwhile, a friendly librarian checked the 2nd edition for me over the phone and said he couldn't see anything about Suburbans at all.

Thanks man I appreciate it. It's funny I'm still searching the web with different keywords and this thread just popped up in Google lol. I don't know what GRM is doing to get their stuff out there so fast, but whatever it is it's working.

Saw that, but for 1969 1/2 ton 4x4 Suburban there is no number listed.

Sorry, Cotton, I checked, and those numbers are exactly what the Standard Catalog says. There's no explanation for why there's a gap. One other possibility that did occur to me for the info you want is the guys at Collectible Automobile: if they ever did an article about your generation of Suburban, you can bet it had production figures. Of course, CA appears to live in some kind of pre-internet universe (maybe they prefer the gas prices from back then?) so there's no easy way to find them online, but their editorial office phone number is 847.676.3470. Or you can mail them a letter and they'll mail you back a CD copy of their cumulative index so you can mail them a letter again and ask for a copy of the relevant issue. I respect what they do over there – really! – but holy crap does that all sound outmoded and dumb. (In fairness, I believe they ARE on that book of faces thing.)

Wow, thanks again. I really appreciate the help! I'll reach out to CA and see if they have anything for the old suburbans.

There is an old International Harvester Carryall for sale locally. Not advertised anywhere other than the old sign in the window. Its been forlornly parked off the side of a road since before I first saw it in August. This thread about old Suburbans made me think of it. I don't need to think about it.
