Yup try harder. The question remains is this; how long was she passed out before the cops found her and took her to be tested?.....

wow

I've never had a breathalizer....but finding out what my BAC has been from some of the parties we've had (at home) would be interesting.

But, I'm sure it's never been remotely close to that

I wonder if she were sober how many cars she could steal......she could certainly do better on the get-a-ways if she didn't pass out.

Drunk in 60 seconds.

A long, long time ago I was driving home from a night out and was well aware I was about as inebriated as I could be and still drive with some measure of confidence. Of course I was radar-ed by one of DC's finest. We had a discussion regarding my my pace and willingness to slow down. He was about to send me on my way with a verbal warning, but decided to administer a field sobriety test. I did the nose touching, heel-toe walking, backwards counting and whatever all else was requested. He said I tested well but that he still wanted to perform a breathalyzer test.

(for purposes of the next portion of the story, DC at this point was still a .10 BAC limit for DWI )

I did as instructed, he scrutinized the instrument, and said... "you just blew a .05 - do you know what that means?"

"I've had half as much to drink as I need to to legally be having a good time?"

He quite gravely informed me that he could charge me with a speeding violation and DUI, but that my ability to do math and crack a joke seemed intact and I seemed to be in control, and that he would release me to go directly home. He added that if he were to ever encounter me in anything like this condition again that I would forever regret the day, and urged me to drive carefully, and that if I wasn;'t comfortable doing so I should park down the road and sleep it off a while.

I thanked him, told him that I had actually learned something, thanked him again and left before he changed his mind.

Several months later I was riding home quite late on the same stretch of road, sober, and he was set up in the same location running radar. I stopped alongside his cruiser, flipped up my visor and asked if he remembered letting me go rather than embroiling me in a legal and financial disaster. He did. I told him that what he did was a better lesson that what would have literally left me close to homelessness, and that I appreciated immensely, and would not ever drive in anything like that condition again.

This is a very long-winded way of saying that at the time I drove home from bars frequently but with no idea (legally) how impaired I was. The answer is that .05 was pretty freakin' hammered. I can't imagine how someone even operates a vehicle at greater than .10, and these freakish news wire drunkards who approach whole-number percentage BAC? it's terrifying.
