Over a foot expected in NH between now and tomorrow evening, estimates keep getting increased, up to 18" was what I last heard on tv, and I thought they stated 24 on the local radio station a few minutes ago.

Its about time, and now is better than late March or April.

I'd be happier about this if the damn starter on the snowblower didn't decide to stop working AGAIN.

And if I wasn't working today. I'd much rather be sitting at home, watching it snow, than dealing with the drive.

Both my snow blowers have electric starters. Totally worth it.

I keep waiting for something to break but nothing seems to.

Ok, the clutch/drive return spring came un hooked yesterday. Easy fix. The machine still did it's job anyway.

My 11 year old Craftsman is still going strong, electric starter and all ... knock on wood. It really got a workout Thursday evening with 14" of wet, heavy crap. Today we had 2-3 inches of snow here and I went out to blow it off before it changed to rain. It performed beautifully.

Still snowing more than 12 hours later. My snow blower I just looked it up and I got it in 04. 8 hp sears with electric start. It is green not the usual sears red. It just keeps on running.

Looks like tomorow is a snow removal day. We got about a foot so far.

Those of us down south enjoyed the weekend.

ASHEVILLE - The high temperature in Asheville on Sunday, February 12, 2017, shattered the previous record set more than 90 years ago.

By just before 2 p.m., the high temperature had already reached 78 degrees at the Asheville Regional Airport, according to Danny Gant, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C. The old record high for Feb. 12 was 73 degrees set in 1922.

A front moving through the area is expected to cool things off a little, bringing high temperatures only in the mid- to upper 50s on Monday, Gant said. The region will also see strong winds overnight.

I don't think I remember what 78 feels like.

Also - I may need to turn in my GRM card. An irresponsible owner (me) didn't check the oil before snowblowing this morning and the engine may be locked up. On the plus side, I got the majority of the driveway done before that happened.

Give it a couple hours, see if it frees up, if yes, put in oil, start.

My gf never checks the oil in her lawn mowers, one ran dry, locked up. I was on the other side of the yard with the other mower when she came to tell me something was wrong. A couple hous later, it was free. I filled the oil, and it ran for another three years, no more smoke than b4 the dry spell and sold at a yard sale for 25 bucks running as good as ever.

Of course this was an old flat head b&s, late 60s, early 70s vintage. Newer engines may not be as tolerant.

As for the snow update, we'll over a foot, and still snowing, have not been out to clean yet.

The northeast is doing its part to fight global warming, unlike you guys with the 70 degree temp's.

Checking the oil in my blower will be done before I start my driveway today, I expect it to take over an hour due to the depth.

Ditto. A little Briggs will take a beating. We mowed an uncountable amount of lawns with push mowers as a business as a kid. Ran one mower out of oil to the point that it seized and somehow blew some remaining liquid oil out the muffler...? Anyway. Let it cool down, added oil, and it ran for at least 3 more seasons of 10+ lawns per week.

Yeah, I'll give it a shot when I get home. It was too hot and I was too mad to mess with it this morning. If it's cooked, I might just throw a Harbor Freight motor on it.

Supposed to be in the 60s this week.

Also - I found the problem with the snowblower....

If it's worth blowing up, it's worth blowing up right, I suppose.

I had one that did that, but it was a tecumseh. There was no recovering after the cool down cycle on it.

Hey, this one's a Tecumseh too!

Looking into repowering it via Harbor Freight right now. Their 8HP motor might be close enough to fit. At least there's no question - it's broken, for real. I had to laugh when I saw the crack and popped that little window off the case.

I was in New York for this one and was supposed to fly out on that Thursday. Fortunately JetBlue let me change my flight without any charge, and my hotel still had rooms.

So I spent Thursday and Friday mostly doing indoor stuff: checked out the new Second Avenue Subway line, visited the dinosaurs, went to the NY Transit Museum, etc.

Totally.

According to this article, there are still four proper phone booths left in New York City. Next time I'm up there, I need to check them out.

Ain't seen a phone booth in like forever. Besides a pocket full of change I remember you could charge the call w/ an access card code. Does that make me old?

I spose

Tonight it's in the 50s and I'm grilling a steak.
