The only thing I'm making is a pallet full of 24"x19" desk top into 2"x2" samples. It's anything but satisfying.
I love making things, I look at myself as a craftsman. I have since I made my first flat head screwdriver out of a big nail in shop class in JR. high school. I also learned at an early age that I can not do factory work, I have tried it several times over the years and it is seriously detrimental to my mental health. Some people can do it and some can't, I can't.
The only reason I'm stuck in the shop now is I pulled a muscle in my back a couple weeks ago. They have me on light duty. Usually my day to day duties have been varied enough to not get too depressed but this special little job came in and they stuck me on it. I'm trying to get it knocked out in between our regular work on the water jet so it's taking forever. They estimated 57hrs of straight cutting time on the jet, but like I said it's in between our regular work and I have to clean and dry the samples before boxing them. Apparently the stuff is too hard to cut on the saws, it burns through blades too fast. I still think it would be quicker.
