I will be starting a new job in a week and a half.
I'm kind of excited- not only do I get to leave the jerk I work for, but this job looks like a really good opportunity.
It's the job I should probably have been doing for the last 20 years.
I cast a broad net, and didn't look locally at all, but the offer I got will actually keep me based where I am, so I will not have to deal with relocation, expenses, etc.
Thanks for your help. You guys did more than you realize.
25% increase in pay, company that appears to respect and value the same things I do in the workplace, and we get to keep our home.
Win all around.
Congratulations! I hope it continues to be everything it appears to be now!

Commercial Construction Superintendent.
First job will be a 10 month project renovating a Ford dealership. Just in time- my F-250 has 480K on it!
Congrats!
Always good to hear a fellow GRMer is moving onward and upward.

Interestingly, I was offered a position from the same company about 6 months ago, and chose the job I am at. They needed me to transfer to San Antonio, and I wanted to stay local.
I now realize, I wasn't ready. There were things I was weak in that I have learned at my current job.
I am pretty sure if I had taken the position in SA, I would not have succeeded. But, having worked in a rough and challenging environment, I learned the things I needed to for success with the other company. So, I am thankful for the job I am currently at, even thought it has been rough.
When the new company made me another offer which included staying "local", I jumped.
I'm ready.

Excellent news, Paul. I'm glad to hear things are settling out for you.
Very glad things worked out.
Good looking out! If you didn't want to move then that's the best scenario possible.

Oh no! I certainly wanted to move, but there are 5 other people who live with me, and my wife and my mother get 3 votes each!
Staying is better for us, for now.
Congratulations. Glad to hear you leveraged your experience for the betterment of the family.
If the new project's building plans have any oddities on the exterior that need simple durable improvement.. hit me up. That's what I do following my 2014 job change.
Congratulations! Glad to hear that good things do happen to good people.

OK, I might need a few more clues...
What is "simple durable improvement" for building exterior oddities??
