Ive seen a few mentions here of horses. I thought I would see who else is involved with Hayburner Horsesports.

I married into horses. My livestock experience was with cattle. We have two geldings, a 20 year old Appaloosa that was my wifes main horse (now for lessons only) and a 10 year old Tennesee Walker that is the current competition horse. My wife does Eventing and there is a show tomorrow that I will be working as a jump judge at. I dont ride, I am equipment/facilities maintenance and repair manager

A couple pics

Great pics! Love the eventing pics. I did that a bit, along with foxhunting, several years ago. He looks like a big, bold boy. Bravo for getting over that last jump, he took that one short and put in a BIG jump -those kind can pop you right out of the saddle!!

My wife has an American quarter horse named Hercules.

Nothing special, just a big, calm, quiet, patient trail horse.

The folks she board with raise Welsh ponies, they're friendly little buggers and smart too. They also have a cobb who is a hunter-jumper.

Even though you deserve it, I'm going to leave that alone.

My sister used to show jump an Appaloosa.

My other sister teaches Drassage and has 3 Swedish Warmbloods, a mom and two babies. I witnessed one of the babies birth, quite intense.

My uncle keeps a couple of horses on the family farm, but we are mostly cattle people as well. He keeps 60-100 head most of the time.

I don't think the horses have been ridden in years. I'm not even sure we still have a saddle that is usable. Some idiot filled the tack shed with car/boat/tractor parts.

This is Colour - she's an off-track racehorse I've had for four years.

And this is her baby, "Silky"

After comparing numbers with coworkers, they are also way cheaper than kids.

Just got back from my stint as a jump judge. It was a pretty good show. I had a few refusals at my location and there were a couple falls at other spots. Everybody was ok.

We have five horses. My avatar is Spencer a retired show jumper that we use for trail riding.

This guy is Neville. He's an off the track Thoroughbred who belongs to our youngest.

This guy is Thor. Another off the track Thoroughbred who belongs to our oldest. I don't have a picture of the other two but one is another off the track guy who is very young, very green but shows promise. The last one is a retired Warmblood show jumper. He's about 28 and is living the quiet life with us.

We did have a couple of borders but they recently moved so we're looking for a couple more to help offset some of the expense.

If I had a show/race horse, I'd name it DICK. Just to hear the announcer say it.

When we lived in Ohio we were boarders (only had one back then). Once we got set up in Michigan where we finally had our own place, we tried to take on a boarder but it didnt work out. We had a real good horse here for about ten months but the owner sold him. Then a few flaky owners followed by a horse that we "fired" because he was so wild and the owner would not help the situation. For the last year we couldnt find a boarder. Insuance keeps going up so we shut down the boarding idea and my wife just gives lessons.

Horses never have that simple of a name in competition. It has to be something like "Third Dick From the Left" or "Dicky-do-Right".

Dixie Normas and Hoof Hearted have been used as race horse names.

I know a couple of local horses with the show names "Dad's M3" and "Our Overdraft".

My parents still have my sister's and my horses. I'm NOT a horse person, but grew up with a few horses. There were a pair of Appaloosa, Peppe & Chico, at my grandparent's farm, both lived well into their 30's and put up with us kids crawling all over them.

My sister got a horse for Christmas when I was in Jr. High, and since she got a horse, my folks, I mean Santa, decided I needed one too. Both mutts, no papers, or any prestige, mostly Quarter Horse, but some Paint in their lineage too. I actually grew very attached to my horse, Mousey, a medium build buckskin that was like a big dog, followed me everywhere, and had the best temperament of any horse I've ever been around. My sister's horse, Bay, a larger bodied bay, hence her name, was and is a diva, temperamental, stubborn, and jealous of any other horse getting more attention than her.

Sadly we lost Mousey, she got into some hay with a lot of green vetch in it, foundered, then pneumonia, being a farm kid I'd seen all kinds of animals come and go, but this was one of the few I got emotional over. I still miss that horse when I think about her.

A few months after we lost Mousey, Bay was still depressed and lonely, so my folks decided I needed another horse, I on the other hand thought I needed a four wheeler, but I didn't win that argument. I traded something like 300 Bermuda square bales for Sadie, registered as Satina Bear. Sadie is an Impressive Quarter Horse (HYPP free) and 10X the diva that Bay is. Bay & Sadie look near identical, same build, same color, just a little different shape to the blaze on their face, and Bay has some white socks.

We rode for pleasure, well I rode, but didn't get a lot of pleasure. I know my sister continued riding after I moved off to college, but I haven't been on a horse since high school, and that was, gasp, 13 years ago.

Bay & Sadie are still there at my parents, hay/feed burner is an accurate description for them. My folks just think of them as pasture decoration. They occasionally get brushed and pampered, but I'm not sure they'd remember what to do if you put a saddle on them again.

I've told SWMBO, we'll have four wheelers to ride for fun, they don't eat anything when you're not using them.

Long pointless story, huh?

This is our Selle Francais "Newton's Law" AKA Isaac. He's on lease in Virginia right now.

And this is "Boston Proper" AKA Ella, our 4-year-old Trakehner.

Don't have any photos of our new Connemara-Hanoverian (Mom jumped the fence...) yearling named Revelation. She just came home on Saturday.

This is what SWMBO does with them

Who knew jumping would be so popular on a car board? I figured Western riding would be more popular.

Jumping is a lot like autocross. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
