I believe that he is on the set of "Wanted Dead or Alive"...the gun was called the Mare's Laig....I think. That is his D-type.

WAIT!!!.... there is more cool coming....

After getting offered the chance to star in The Magnificent Seven (1960), McQueen found out that the only way he could do the film, which was being shot simultaneously with "Wanted: Dead or Alive", was to fake an accident or illness and get a medical leave from the series. According to his first wife, Nellie, McQueen accomplished this feat by "faking" a car crash in which he merely crashed his car into a tree, receiving minor cuts, muscle pulls, and bruises, and getting his medical leave. The series' production went on temporary hiatus while McQueen filmed "The Magnificent Seven".

McQueen's XKSS 713 w/corresponding D-type chassis 569.

Cool story, never really looked into the origin of the XKSS's.

McQueen was one of the Hollywood car and bike guys who really 'got it' (James Garner was another). His cowtrailing segment in 'On Any Sunday' managed to catch the true essence of dirt biking.

There was a retrospective on SPEED way back when which was hosted by his son; he describes being a young kid on the set of 'LeMans' and how his dad pulled up, raised the Porsche's door and motioned him in. He sat on his dad's lap while they did a lap and said that to this day that remains one of hismost powerful memories.

McQueen was a cool dude. I read one of his biographies. Led an interesting life.

Not a shotgun. It's a Winchester lever action rifle. The loading port on the side of the receiver is a dead giveaway.

And I doubt its a 30-30 (They're little ). Those casing look to big. Probably a .45-75 or something similarly sized.

Upon googling I discovered the Mare's Leg was a .44-40 caliber Winchester Model 1892 rifle. The bullets in the bandoleer are .45-75s because they looked better.

Funny, I just picked a big caliber from the Winchester Lever Action wiki page. Straight up guess!

I gotta say they look pretty badass... but you would probably regret the choice of attire when it came time to brake at the end of the Mulsanne straight.

Steve? Maybe not so much.
