So sorry to hear this man. Hope the little one is doing better soon! What is the treatment? Surgery?

Antibiotics, childrens advil and multiple hot baths per day till the infection goes away. Then if there are multiple reoccurances surgery becomes an option.

Just get it whacked now and be done with it. Find a pediatric general surgeon.

Sucks, man. Babysitter for sleep, or will the stress still keep you from it?

As an adult a pilonidal cyst hurts like hell, so I could only imagine on a child. Luckily mine ruptured and I didn't have to have surgery.

I hope she gets well soon.

Well the cyst ruptured this morning, which opens up a while new world of infections, but at least she got a little relief from that.

"Rupture" is not usually a word you look forward to.

If it was like mine when I was a teenager, the hole has to been cleaned out (usually there is hair in there) then it is packed with antibiotic gauze strips that help keep it from being infected until it starts to heal.

I hope you guys get it figured out.

In this case, rupture is probably the best case scenario and most immediate relief for her

This right here is the worst part of the surgery route. I've had a couple of these things cut out of me the last couple years (one on my spine and another on my lower abdomen) and both times they cut out the cyst, then stuffed the hole with gauze. The worst part was that I had to change the gauze myself a couple times - digging inside yourself and stuffing gauze into a hole is not at all pleasant. They both healed really well though. So, the surgery and gauze part sucks, but it's almost certainly the safest long-term solution in terms of avoiding infections.

And coincidently, I had another one develop recently... also on my tailbone. Very unpleasant.
