You might remember my rant about no bikes and no pups....well...after a long and tedious process I picked up our pup from the vet yesterday and brought him home.  We adopted him from a facility that trains service dogs that had a mother that just had 8 pups that were all named after planets.  Ours was Saturn which we intend to change but we haven't come up with a name that we can all agree on yet.  He had to be fixed and micro chipped as part of the agreement which is why I picked him up from the vet.  Last night he did great so hopefully that will continue.

Well, since you weren't supposed to get a dog or a bike, and got a dog, at least name him Honda, Triumph, Harley, or some other bike related name. It would seem appropriate.

It could be worse, someone got Uranus.

Good looking pup and already identifying proper toys to chew on. Ice cubes help with teething.

Wife and kids have been tasked to work on the name while I'm at work.  I liked Flint or Bentley but kids aren't biting.

I have not had one rescue organization respond to my inquiries in months. They take the time to update their sites with cute dogs, so my guess is that most are a quasi-scam to keep donations coming in. Most have such ridiculous regulations to adopt a dog that I wouldn't want their animals anyway. I'll keep trolling my local kill shelter and save a great dog without all the BS involved. /rant

Unfortunately anyone can start a dog rescue group and make their own rules. I have started four of them. Some are better than others. My current group spent almost $900,000 in vet bills since starting in 2009 and our books are available for the IRS or anyone else to look at. I assure you we make no money but we do add to the bottom line of several vets and boarding facilities. We have quite a few corporate sponsors. Most of them are run by volunteers who work all day long and don't have time to sit by the phone all day long and wait for calls, but we do clean out the voice mailbox every 12 hours. There are a few bad groups out there that are little more than covers for backyard breeders and dog hoarders. Like I said, anybody can start one. Do your research. There is nothing wrong with getting one from a shelter. That's where most rescue groups get theirs.

@pinchvalve...We had the same issue and took us a long time to get a pup.  There are pit bull pups out there that can be had but pretty much anything else you have to wait and fill out extensive applications for.  We had to send pics of our house, vet records for our cats, answer a million questions and still of course the adoption fee.  Couldn't really ask for a better experience though, the host Mom even set up a live cam feed that you could check on the pups anytime until they were old enough.

So we finally all decided on the name Seven.  There are 6 of us in the house (4 boys) so it just kinda flowed.  Umbrella Academy where the kids are all named numbers played a part in it as well.  Still doing great and no accidents in the house yet
