That should be a saying. (I'm making some pasta right now.)
Put a lid on it. This helps two ways, boils the water quicker by helping with heat retention and stops you from looking at it. Unless you've got fancy glass lids, then it only helps keep the heat in and doesn't solve the watching part.
Either way, pasta is awesome.
A watched pot never boils, but as soon as you step outside to see what the dog is up to that damn thing will evaporate half it's contents.
Don't ever try to heat milk. 20 minutes at full flame won't warm it 20 degrees, but 20 seconds of divided attention will turn it into radioactive goo.

Yup. Or lima beans. They steadfastly refuse to boil until you ignore them, then they boil like mad and foamy bean water rolls out of the pot all over your nice clean stove.
