I've often pondered a 2" 5-shot .357. That way if I miss they'll be blind and deaf like catching a flashbang in the face.
Speaking of awesome fireballs, my favorite was shooting 200-gr Corbon +P+ 1190fps .45acp out of my 3.4" Colt 1991A1 I had at the time. Dude... fireballs the size of your head. You only got one shot because you were blind as hell after.

My buddy's dad has a P226 (I think) and I remember him raving about it when he bought the gun a few years back. Guy spent 30+ years in the army, so I highly respect his opinion on firearms. My dad ended up buying a Sig as well (forget what model), after trying a number of different guns he said that was hands down his favorite. I still haven't had the opportunity to shoot his yet. Really, I don't think I've ever heard a bad word spoken about a Sig pistol, but they sure are pricey new. Not sure I'll be able to get one for what I'm willing to spend.
The cheap 12 gauge would likely be my next gun purchase. Rather have something that can do both defense and target practice for now, and shotguns tend to be a bit, uh, rough on paper 
. Shooting skeet sure does look like fun though.
What do you like about your LCP? Keep seeing the LC9S advertised on sale for just under $400 and it seems like it would fit the bill quite well.

I know they weigh 76lbs, but no thanks. Closest I've gotten is one of those .45LC/.410 revolvers. That was brutal enough.
I've shot the LCP and the TCP, not a huge fan of either, I have average sized hands, typically large gloves are loose and medium gloves are snug. I didn't care for either of the pocket .380's size. SWMBO's mom has the LCP, and she doesn't have the arm/finger strength to easily work the slide. I suggested she go to an LCR or any of the J frame sized S&W and clones.
Funny you mention the PPK 84FSP, I'm in the market, but even the S&W made ones are bringing a premium now. Gun show this past weekend had 2 at the entire show, an Interarms one for $500, and another beat to hell one, I don't know who made since the $600 price tag prevented me from even asking to pick it up. The "new" PPKs are supposed to be available by June of this year though, so there's still hope.
On the Semi-auto vs. Revolver, if you intend to qualify with it to carry concealed, check your state's rules, some will only allow you to carry a revolver if that's what you qualify with, while qualifying with a semi-auto will allow you to carry either. YMMV.
I bought a S&W Shield 9 mm as my first pistol - I had similar goals. I like that it is small enough to CC, but particularly with the extended magazine, provides a full grip and shoots like a bigger pistol when practicing. It is very comfortable to shoot as long as you want to shoot. Contrast something like a keltec that's much easier to conceal, but not much fun to shoot after a few rounds. I wanted a slimmer gun to, recognizing I would give up some capacity.

As far as I am aware, I don't think you have to "qualify" with anything to carry in PA. The process as I understand it is you walk into the courthouse with your form stating that you aren't a criminal, a drunk, or a crazy, hand them $20, they do a background check, and you walk out with your concealed carry permit.
Actually, I don't have an LCP. I've never found any super-compact carry style guns to be much fun to shoot. They are a tool for a job as I said, different tools are best for different jobs.
Full time concealed carry is a pretty serious chore (hence why I don't carry every day) so if you are serious about doing so a pocket pistol just makes the most sense. Unfortunately the tradeoffs of being so small and light is that you end up holding it with 3 fingers and it'll kick worse than a full size .45
A perk to shooting 12 ga is the variety of ammo you can use. From slugs to bird-shot it is probably the closest thing to a do-it-all gun.

I have full size M&P in 9mm. I do love it, great gun, and I carry it in the woods, but not very good for everyday CC. Its a bit obvious under a t shirt in the summer. I do it, and no one has cared, but not very concealed. I have a PF9 if I really want to conceal. Buts its not accurate beyond 25 yds really.... Its a snappy little Berker

Definitely not planning to carry every day, probably an occasional thing at best. We're not allowed to have firearms on premises at work, and there aren't a whole lot of situations in my day to day life where I feel like I would need one. I'd still like to have that ability when the occasion arises, but conceal-ability isn't a primary concern.
So maybe I shouldn't bother looking too hard at the ultra compact models? I do have large-ish hands, but at the same time I haven't been uncomfortable shooting shooting smaller pistols, like the Glock 42, in the past.
The Desert Eagle is a hoot. I got the complete set: 357 mag, 44 mag and 50AE. After the 50AE, the 357 mag feels like a 22. Probably not what the OP is looking for, though.

My brother has a Ruger Alaskan 454, his favorite thing to do with it, is to load it with .45 LC and one .454, spin the cylinder slap it shut, and hand it to you to shoot. Those LC also feel like .22s compared to the Casull.
I do carry every day, even though at work it has to stay locked in the car. Anywhere else, I have one of the .45's on me. A good belt and holster makes all the difference. Speaking of that... I do need a new belt.

Im personally a big fan of the 1911 chambered in .45, mine is a box stock colt i inherited when my grandmother passed away. I have big hands with short fingers and it fits as well or better then anything else ive shot.
A range with rentals is a good enjoyable way to try alot of diffrent fits. I lust after a 10mm glock but the local range doesnt even have one too try.
My dads a smaller guy and his go to is an older smith and wesson .380. It feels tiny to me.
A neat little semi-auto pistol is the CZ 82. They are old commie cop surplus pistols that are C&R eligible. They shoot splendidly (according to the interwebs) and are very accurate. The have an odd rifling and I think hold 10 rounds. You used to be able to get them for just over $100. The last ones I saw were over $250. They shoot the oddball 9mmX18 Makarov round, but they still make a CZ83 in .380 (aka 9mm Browning). I really wish I had bought one years ago and wish they had made them in 9mm parabellum.

Yeah, well, let's just say that I don't have enough ass to hold on to it with the 50AE's. That is, the recoil is too much for me to hold on to strong enough to give the action (gas operated) something to push against and function properly. My step son can, though, and it functions flawlessly for him in 50. In 44 MAG, I have no problem with it. If I practice some more and maybe change up my grip, I might be able hold on to it hard enough for the 50AE, but at $2 a pop, it is kind expensive to practice. I think I'll stick with the 44MAG in that one, and I've got some boolit molds and powder coating to experiment with. It has that same rifling as Glocks use, so you can't shoot plain lead boolits in it either.
I was going to recommend an SKS with a bayonet but then you threw the pistol part in there.

Didn't read everyone's posts but I feel obligated to put in a word for the CZ 75 or one of the many knockoffs of it. Actual CZ's bust your budget new, but easily come in on the used market.
