You should correct them back, you were right. It's not "best" as it's used to give a number under all sorts of operating conditions. You can chart BSFC vs. rpm vs. torque (or manifold pressure) and get all sorts of coolness from there for transient conditions (instead of steady state numbers as you guys are talking about above).
