If you call 411, you can get a police non-emergency hotline for your local area. I've done that too.

I’ve called 3 times on drink drivers.

First drunk was going down main street an was all over the road at 11pm. This guy was so bad that he ended up going into someone front yard, over some rocks, then spun out and ended up across other lanes. As I called the police he took off but a mile down he road he pulled off in a parking lot and passed out with the truck in drive. Police asked me to follow him and wait for them to show up incase he took off. When they showed up they woke him up and when he got out he truck rolled a few feet forward. Then in the middle of the sobriety test he stopped and just started to take a piss. Anyway they carted him off and the police took my info. I ended up having to go to court to be a witness and I found out this was his third DUI and his defense was “Jesus made him do it”

Second was uneventful and the third I didn’t want to call until the guy hit his brakes and cut over 3 lanes and hit my truck. When the cops pulled him over he resisted arrest and they found a receipt for $60 to some bar in Boston. I also found out later he was a courtroom clerk.

A few nights ago we were all packed in the Mother Truckster, Tanner, Trevor, and the babysitter Laura who has a friend in tow when up ahead I note a 90's STS doing the "sleepy weave". I kicked off the cruise and said "Hey y'all, watch this!" just as the guy runs off the right side of the road, overcorrects to the left and shoots head first in to the median at 70mph. Had we been cruising at the normal speed I would be shopping for a Jeep Liberty CRD right now ;)

Maybe not yet but wil be an emergency when they hit someone. So just jumping the gun a little.

It was two events three hours apart. I called after the second event. A single event is not that big of a deal, but if someone is aggressively circling my block, yeah I'm calling the police.

There is no longer a non-emergency number in my city. Its 911 or walk in only!

Not a big fan of the police in my area. They seem to be more into "busting" people than protecting and serving.

That said I might have called them too if I thought they would do anything. Especially on my street where me and my 3 yr old play in the front yard all the time. He knows he's not allowed to go in the street, but when the soccer ball goes in the street his attention is not focused on his old man's rules anymore.

Weird side note though: Saw a shadow through the blinds in my man cave the other day. Went outside to find a cop in my backyard. He said my gate was open and he was making sure no one broke into my house. I think someone got burglarized down the street (saw the sheriff pull up several houses down). Still kinda weirded me out though. I didn't know he could just walk onto my property like that. I guess the open gate and the burglary down the street gave him probable cause to go poking around. The gate is getting fixed on Sunday. Police or not I don't like people in my backyard.

gate being open makes the backyard a public place. also it being open plus recent crimes in the area means reasonable suspicion to go check things out.

yeah, I agree. I did use the non-emergency number that my local po-po has.

I even got the police clerk to laugh as we agreed if you called the kid and asked if he was speeding; we would all say no.

my neighbor is on the outer part of a corner and has had two brick mailboxes creamed by drivers going too fast. Of course, ice and snow helped these drivers.

Anytime you need the police in New York, emergency or not, you have to call 911. Calling the precinct will just get you transfered to a 911 op.

We have a a few problem drivers in my neighborhood. I hate people who speed in neighborhoods. It unsafe and stupid. I've stopped people before, and if I ever saw something grossly unsafe I wouldn't have a problem calling the police.

I live outside the city limits, try getting a cop out here for something like that. Granted I'm big enough to scare the few "kids" out here to behave themselves when I'm around, they seem to fear me for some reason...i don't know why I did have one kid ripping up and down my street on a dirt bike one time. I was trying to study and every few minutes I heard him ripping down my street at full throttle. I went outside and stood just off the street and yelled at him. He must have gotten the message because he has NEVER ridden that bike on the road here again and he lives at the end of it past my house. I was in a bad mood that day.

Anyway on this road my property covers half the length so I also get a the annoying problem of people mistakenly turning onto the road and using my drive as a turn around.

It seems like you Americans don't understand how the 911 system works. We never should have let you use it in the first place

My old workout partner almost got transported to the lockup for a stunt like that. He did get a ticket for it tho. The offender got a reckless driving award and his car impounded for no insurance.

I was once that moron running at top speed through dense neighborhoods. I haven't called the cops on anyone but really want to. There is an a$$hat in my neighborhood that runs his snow mobile at top speed on the street when it snows (and I'm pretty sure he is the same kid that runs his dirt bike at top speed on the street in the summer). He goes by my house so fast I can't even make out what kind of sled it is. I don't know how this kid isn't dead yet considering the Town plows our street every 15 mins!
