How are you adding lightness? I was up to 240 in College before the military got me down to 200 in boot, where I promptly jumped back up to 215 when I exited. Last year at this time I had ballooned back to 235, made some changes and actually got down to 210 and felt great. Now that I work an office job and it's winter I ballooned right back to 230.
So I quit soda (my only vice, had a liter of diet Coke a day) and now drink at least a liter of water a day instead. Started trying to exercise in little bursts when I have the time, take the stairs to my 4th floor office, etc. I got back down to 220, but that's still too heavy. I want 200 again, or maybe even 199 (I haven't weighed that little since 1998...).
Mostly I want to improve my health and have the added benefit of being faster in the autocross.
Notes: No meat at home, most meals are actually vegan (cause that's what my wife is). I eat pretty well, it's just the lack of any movement that's killin me.
Tips? Advice?
Drinking lots of water helps in office environments simply because youll have to get up once every hour or so and pee. Quite literally, simply getting out of your chair once an hour helps immensely.
Ive also been trying to just eat smaller portions, and get my tubby ass on the bicycle trainer 3-4 times a week. I have several P90x DVDs, and have been trying to do the core and plyometrics video at least once a week per. Thats been through all of january (new years resolution to slim down...also got a cruise coming up and need to look good ) and Im down 11#. I also have a very sedentary job, and the cold weather outside is not helping. Once it warms up and I have to get out and work in the yard, it will come off faster.
I just limit my calories and sugars.
Nearly 10 years later I still weigh what I did sophomore year of college.
I feel your pain, I'm over 300 now, was at 227 in the army, would like to get back to that weight. I'll be joining the ymca, maybe doing some spin and zoomba classes, try to slim back down.

At 66YO, I weigh the same thing as when I was 35. 230. Unfortunately, back then I had a 36" waist, now a 42. How did that happen?
Twenty-five years ago, I ate sensible meals and exercised whenever I could. I weighed about 175, which is within a pound or two of where I am today. And yes, I still eat sensible meals and exercise whenever I can.
I do not feel so bad about my 5'11" inch frame with 180 pounds wrapped around it anymore..
I am trying to get down to 170.
My sophmore year of college.. I weighed 135
I couldnt tell ya. the most ive ever weighed is 150, soaking wet... My metabolism has been sooo fast all my life, waiting for it to hit a brick wall
Sorry, I have a large body type. Played middle linebacker in high school, was a Rescue Swimmer in the Coast Guard (off boats, not helo's), and so on. I'll never be "light" for my height, but if you measure my wrists and neck I should be about 200.
I am trying to get down to 200 (currently around 210) and I have no problem getting to 205 and then I hit a brick wall and I can't get any lower. And then finals week comes along at school and I am back at 210.
And here I am drinking a gallon of milk a day trying to put on weight.
Wow. And me, trying to lose that last 5 lbs to hit 150.

I think we recently passed each other, going in opposite directions!

In high school, I was about 165-170 soaking wet. I'd be eating about 6-7000 calories a day, including about 6 gallons of milk a week, and couldn't put on any weight. Got to college, and stopped playing hockey, and went to 195. Still there, and since I've been working out and eating less... I'm still at 195. Go figure. I guess that is just where my natural weight should be.
I weigh 200 lbs, which is exactly what I weighed 20 years ago college when I was playing rugby. The big difference is how I'm carrying it.
I want to get my waist back down to 34", which is a 3.5 inch loss. There is only one solution: eat less, exercise more.
I was doing aerobics 3-4 times a week, and eating a lot better- which got me down from a 230 high to about 195.
Then almost two years ago, I added in distance running, and have gotten down to 172, but T-giving and Christmas added way too much.
But I think it's possible to go from 182 to 165.
Never expected to enjoy running, but I sure do. And my long term goal is to be able to run a half marathon whenever I feel like it. I'm pretty close now....

As a sophomore in HS, I weighed 215. I weighed 215 as a senior, and for 10 years thereafter....then I got married. I decided to do something when I hit 250. An eighth of a ton is quite enough for me. I will not rest until I have abs again. I want them before May, because that will mean the cruise is almost here. Ive always been heavy for my height, because for my height, my legs are short and my trunk is long. That and Ive always been into cycling, so my thighs are like tree trunks = heavy.
One one body mass scale, at 220, I was borderline obese, despite only having about 1% over goal for my height body fat percentage. Pretty much the main reason I want to make a change is because I literally feel big and heavy. When I was younger, I knew I was hefty, but never felt big or slow. That is what I really want to change. I guess I want to be a bit lighter, but better conditioned.

Somewhat my fear as well. Although it's either getting there or the "see-food" diet has been working.
I'm 5'9" and 165lbs now. Actively trying to hit 170.

Try cheese instead. Cheese and steak. Lots of steak.
