The last thing you need to do is get a lawyer(s) involved. It will just end up costing you both money that neither of you have to spend. Feel him out, work out a deal that makes him go away, and call it a day. Do you owe him anything? No, but a few hundred bucks won't mean dick to you, and might mean enough to him to keep him off your back. Your mistake was entertaining any kind of conversation with him. He now has an expectatiion.

I didn't hear anyone suggest Mazdax605 call his lawyer. I heard several people suggest he the the buyer to call his lawyer. I think the point is there will most certainly be no legal follow through.

Don't give him a dime. You disclosed the leak (excuse me, the elak ), discounted the price, threw $150 of your own money into helping him get the thing home, he inspected it prior to purchase, decided to purchase it, now it's his problem. FWIW, I ain't no lawyer (means I am safe from the big box store poof- I think) but if you refund any $ that could LOOK like an admission of guilt.

Many years ago, I sold a CR125 Honda. The new owner test rode it before purchase, all was well, he was happy. I sold it 'as is'. Then, about a month after he bought it the piston busted a skirt. he called me up, said I owed him for the piston and machine work. Um, no I don't. I felt sorry for the guy, BUT: it was nothing I did and there was no way I could have known it was going to break a skirt. I see your situation sorta the same way.

agreed. i was raised right too and understand where you are coming from. We sold an Escort wagon to our best friends and a month later the engine blew. We felt horrible, but they understood thats how the cookie crumbles some times.

Does he know where you live?

If not, ignore him. Hell- ignore him anyway. Its his problem now. Advise him the longer he waits to fix it, the worse it will be. LOL
