That being said, why is just the US gov't in possession of alien technology? Otherwise the implication is that multiple gov'ts are in cahoots to hide the evidence of UFOs.
Maybe they're not the only ones...no government is eager to be first to break the news to the public, and they would want to keep it secret from other governments for as long as possible, because they'd all want to get the alien technology first.
Who remembers this thread? ![cheeky cheeky](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)

As ubiquitous as stupidity is on our planet......I'm gonna have to concede that the Jow Dirt possibility is the most likely. (sad)
Uncaring. Aliens would not view the inhabitants of this planet as being particularly intelligent. If something here were considered of value to them, they would take it without any more concern or thought than we would give to building a house over an ant colony.
For better or worse, the location of the Solar system may also be a bit of a factor. This is a small nondescript planet circling a nondescript star on the outer edge of the galaxy. At the intersection of "no" and "where". There isn't a lot of incentive for anyone to come out here.

You are assuming that our view of the galaxy is the same as theirs. Science is fluid, it changes as we learn more. I'd wager that our "scientific fact" would be laughable in their eyes. (if they have have humor) We "knew" the earth was flat......we "knew" the Earth was the center of the universe. Do we now "know" how our solar system and galaxy works? I'd bet we know much, much less than we do not know.

Time is also a huge factor. The universe is vast in both space and time. Humans are not. So even though it is quite likely that we are not the only ones here, not only do you have to hit a very small space window to find us, you also have to do it at a very specific time.
This guy told me there are no aliens, so, case closed:

True. Plus, when the ability to transcend vast quantities of space and time are attained, the limited existence of humans becomes another reason for aliens to have little reason to visit this world.

Ya'll do realize that virtually all university research and development work in this country is managed by the U.S. Government, right? DARPA. Even things as far from Defense as neuron research at a charity teaching hospital is run through (funded by) DARPA.
At the large university where I work, on an annual basis I have to submit for background checks to ensure I can work in many of the research labs. I know the government is involved in many ways, but I don't know exactly how. Neither do I want to...
Much of the alien thing has to do with things that were done in ancient times. Huge stones that would have been impossible for humans to move. There are markings in South America that can only be observed from the air. Lots of mystery. Were they here and then left ? Maybe they send scouts to see if we still exist.

So we've got that going for us. ![laugh laugh](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)
You know, you could piece together some logic here - the major ancient civilizations were generally separated from each other by time and/or distance. So while there were wars and fighting, there weren't major civilizations fighting each other until later on. It would have been relatively safe to visit Earth without stirring things up globally.
Fast forward a couple years to the 20th century. With all the technological advances, it would make sense if ET wanted to check in on us and see what we were up to. But then around 1970 things really started going to E36 M3, and visiting a planet that's seemingly on the verge of either blowing its self up through infighting, or destroying its ecosystem probably isn't a very smart idea.
So it kinda makes sense that unless/until humanity get's its act together and realizes we're one big civilization, and thus need to start behaving as such and getting along with one another, why would they want to come back?
Obviously, if aliens had been here, and were either uncaring or aggressive, odds are we wouldn't be surfing cat vids now.
