It's becoming more and more apparent I'm going to need to move to further my career, with you guize help we have narrowed it down to Dallas. (We have to stay in my wife's territory)
I'm a senior-level Tech Writer and there seems to be plenty of opportunities in Dallas for what I do, as well as an increased salary (COL isn't that much different from Tulsa from what I've researched).
So what does an Oklahoma boy need to know? My wife is up for it, she is ready to go somewhere else and being in Dallas means basically everywhere she has to travel for work every week is a direct flight, instead of a connection.
What am I missing?

Ft Worth has a surprising amount of museums, deep ellum is where the music and breweries are. I always thought Los Colinas was a pretty nice area for the money, but it's becoming more spendy.
Grapevine used to be the go-to for value, but it's become increasingly overbuilt and expensive...maybe check out Euless for value? DFW is 98% concrete there are very few outdoor activities...oh, and you'd better like the Cowboys
They drive like they are berkeleying nuts there. And I grew up in L.A.
Man, we just made the move a year ago. I just so happen to have a good buddy that's a tech writer at L3 MID in Greenville, just east of Dallas. I work out there as well. It's a great place to work, good pay, good people. Several families in my neighborhood and folks I work with live centered between commutes. I drive 30 min from Fate Texas to Greenville, DFW and Love Field are both about 40min or less depending on traffic. Lots of OK folks down here.
Email me through the site and I can give you my number and I can pass your resume around if you'd be interested in that too.
Raytheon is in Dallas as well but I haven't heard much about people loving it.

Addison is yuppie-prefab-village-nicerestaurants-alltheboozeyouwant. White Rock Lake is awesome to bicycle around but avoid the roads because of redneck truck drivers with guns (yeah... that happened to a friend). Richardson Bike Mart is awesome. Good To Go Taco and Torchys are awesome. Commuting is hell so try to live where you work: bonus points for RV in company parking lot.

Live in Frisco if you can, when I was looking for property, it was FAR cheaper than Ft worth proper.
I lived, for just over a year, in a town north of Fort Worth called Azle. Loved every day of it, too.
Summer is 8 months long and winter only lasts a couple of weeks.
