Still running DirecTV Now over here. So far, watching regular TV is surprisingly good. Additionally we can use our direct-tv login to get the Disney app, E! app, etc. Downsides are that there's no DVR function and "lookback" doesn't work. On-demand is really spotty... shows are weeks behind, including gaps is coverage. And we have to log in every other day.
7 days is not a long enough test-drive so yeah, we paid for this month.

Killed the cable 12 days ago. Went with out until last night, signed up for Sling Blue at $25 a month. Note: If you are a Discovery watcher, there is no Discovery network on sling at this time.
So far I have only used it through the window app and I am not impressed, I think I am getting carpel tunnel from all the scrolling that is needed to see what is on.
The other issue is the app keeps crashing, I think its due to the experion credit commercial that seems to run at the beginning of every on demand show. They have a help chat (opens a browser window), but it must be overloaded, as it states some one will be with you shortly, and it stayed that way through 3 more crashes at the start of each of the 3 episodes of 2 broke girls (about 1.5 hours) interrupting my work on my EJ to Beetle wire harness slim down.I killed it after that cause we where headed off to bed. This mornings attept was not any more successful, it just locked up in the middle of a show and is on a black screen, so it looks like I will have to kill the app and restart. (edit restart was needed, after 10 minutes it never came back)
Some of the reviews stated it is better via Roku, right now, I give it 2 stars out of 5, even though it crashed, my GF did get to watch something she wanted to. I will update when I get the roku, but at this time, I dont think I will extend it past the 2 months I signed up for in order to get the roku.
DirectTV is an evil spiteful company lol.
I ditched them, setup a vpn, and use a combination of Netflix, Popcorn Time (free), and Kodi(free). But, I don't watch TV much and have detached myself from HAVING to catch my fav team play every time.
If I do want to watch NFL Sunday I use my ps4 and login to my coworkers direct TV via the 'Sunday ticket app' and use his Sunday ticket streaming since he only watches it on his TV.
Seriously, having Internet and cable is redundant.
