I saw that on the TV news. The 911 operator laughed when he told her he was driving away in the theives' car. Then she told him that he could be charged for it so he should stop.

Whatever, that was pure genius!

Can somebody post the story here? Can't get flash on the iPhone yet for some stupid reason.

Short story:

Burglars come into a home and the owner is in the basement.

He sees/hears the burglars and sneaks out a back door and finds their minivan getaway vehicle idling in the driveway.

He takes off in their van.

As told in the video, the owner is a recently laid off bank manager and was home during the day of the attempted robbery.
This seems to make an interesting comment on the current economy.

Is the economy so bad that it is even affecting the simple business of daytime home invasion?

Probably a lot smarter and safer than a Chuck Norris entry. Would be interesting to remove the van, come back with a 12ga pump, walk in the back door and do the slide-snap and watch the brown stains down the sidewalk.

Definitely bank robberies (violent crime in general I think), at least here in the Tulsa, OK area. All of last year we had 14 bank robberies, so far this year we've had 11 and 1 attempted bank robbery.

Same time last year we'd had 2 murders, so far this year 11. I'm not sure if that counts a triple-homicide in a small town about 45 minutes away from here.

Crazy times for sure.
