Ok, I've had two letters printed in GRM and been quoted in Say What? twice now. Each time, I felt like I was in high school again and the prettiest girl in school just talked to me. Am I an ego-maniac because I feel soo cool when I read my words in the mag?
BTW, I told my wife I was quoted in Say What? and, well, she brought me back down to earth:
DrBoost: Hey honey, I was quoted in say what again! Cool huh?
Mrs.Boost: So what.
DrBoost: No, it's say what. It's a little column in the magazine where they.....
Mrs.Boost: Yeah, I know what it is. I was saying so what.
DrBoost: I'm going to go schedule an extra session with my therapist now. Thanks mom.
I've only been in Say What once, but yeah, I got that same feeling. My wife's response was about as excited as yours.
Must be your witty turn of phrase.
No. I too am excited to be "published" in the magazine. I think I've made "Say What?" two or three times now. It feels great. If that makes other people call us ego-maniacs, that's okay. After all, we're better than they are!
What has me concerned is these two sentences in your post:

You appear to be referring to your wife as "mom". I'm not sure this is healthy. At least you'll be seeing your therapist soon. You should talk about this!

We love ya. Keep it up.
I understand your feelings, I was on top of the world when my car was in the 'Your cars' section. But rather than equating it to the cutest girl in high school talking to me, I'm more realistic, I viewed it more like getting my name in small font as a foot note in the chess club newsletter. Still made me happy and we're all jealous of you!

Big deal, mine generated hate mail.
I've been in Say What twice, and both were on the old forum format, more than 2 years ago. I often question if I have become less awesome since then...
My car was pictured in a small write up on the Daytona 24 in the back of an issue once.
File this under "If you have to ask..."
Haha just kidding. I've been in Say What once, and in Stuck On You once, and I saved both mags. So what does that say about me?

I don't think you're an ego maniac, but it sounds like you could use a little positive reinforcement in your life.

I was happy to see myself appear in Say What once. I don't think you're an ego maniac. Per happened to mention he was thinking of quoting me "in a future article" and I've been on the lookout ever since. It's kind of rewarding to know you've done something that entertained the GRM gang after all the entertainment they've given us.
DrBoost...if you have to ask "Am I an egomaniac?" then you aren't.
An ego maniac:
A.) would NEVER even consider that idea to be worth a thought.
B.) an egomaniac would never doubt him or herself.
In reply to Duke:
Well, you were specifically mentioned in the Viper article JG wrote in this month's issue. Very first line too......

Ohh, great, he puts me in an article and I forget it was JG, not Per? Sorry to both of you. Now I can't wait to get my current ish (come on, mailman, get done with it already).

OK, now I feel inadequate – I've never been mentioned anywhere within the hallowed pages.

I think i've been quoted in the mag twice now. I always feel kinda special when it happens, even though it's likely due to something idiotic i've said, as opposed to some flash of brilliance.

Yeah but have you ever had anyone shout from a car in traffic to ask you if your car was in GRM?
What made it cooler is that the dude was in a Sunbeam Tiger and really excited about my car. Almost asked him if he wanted to trade.
yea... I am not very quotable

....from angry hairdressers, no doubt.
[And that car write up just proves that you should be hired to write a humor column for GRM.]

I cut out the "Say What" I was in so I could hang it on the wall in the garage. Then I lost the clipping.

That is not the reason why you are an ego-maniac.
I don't know if I've been in GRM print.. But I've been in local newspapers
never been in print in GRM either... but did make it into SCC back in the good old Colmen days... was very kewl for me and all the mr2 buddies I had at the time :)
I hope to one day make GRM... next year i'm sure at least my truck will get a small pic from the challenge...

You're lucky it's too late for me to call the printer.
