Luckily I don't have the budget to bring anything home, since I look at almost anything. The last couple were a nice early 60's Autocar tractor with integral sleeper (Think early extended cab), or a convertable for the wife. She wants one, and I'd like to build something like an old gasser. We saw a pile of Stanley Steamer parts, way out of reach, but I thought it would make for a cool gasser project. Like all good ones it would need a cool name. I thought The Cleveland Steamer. The guy asked if I was from Cleveland, the wife said "No, he's just an shiny happy person"
I guess my problem is of a different variety...I mean I love most all cars, and even lust after a few, but I am a realist...theres no way in hell my wife will ever be ok with xx number of cars being on the property. Maybe one day when we have a little more space there is a possibility for 1 project car OTHER than the 1 I drive...anyway (depending on who you ask) the wife isnt the problem...its how many different projects I am scheming in my mind at a time. currently the list is:
-
Modded transmission resistor
-
DIY composite cold air intake
-
Swap in a previous generation OEM intake cam
-
build a grassroots aluminium smelting furnace
-
begin protoyping a few aluminum parts I can cast using the furnace
-
Composite body work
-
learn to weld headers
-
re-organize the garage into a better workshop
and so it goes...There arent enough hours in the day. I need to win the lottery/fall on the ice at a rich guys house/ be contacted by a lawyer because I had a rich uncle I never new die and leave it all to me

See my problem I guess is I can't decide what I want. Today it's the new Fiesta, yesterday it was a C5 Vette. Slightly different them two for sure.
I always thought the answer would be to own your own used car dealership. Drive home whatever you want that day or week.
I know I couldn't do it because I would never keep popular cars in inventory, just the ones I like.
The way I try to combat my sickness, when I think about buying something new, is by think about something that I would never want. Like this one.....

Dear god that thing would never stop, well I guess you'd have to get it rolling first. Sparks WILL FLY!!!
Yeah there's not really much I don't want. I'm 100% sure I never want an SUV, though a truck would be cool. I need therapy!

It looks photochopped to me. There are no lug nuts or bolts and I dont see any knock off centres.

No, it's real. IIRC, it's the creation of some London artist, trying to make a statement about somethingorother.
I'm sure my addiction isn't as bad as some people on here being i've had 7 vehicles in 6 years of driving. I do have three bicycles in the shed though if that counts towards anything..

you know your a carsophrenic when:
You create words to describe a condition you have no other name for but know exists...
you seek a support group of like minded souls, whom you know will never help improve the situation, in fact you know theyll just make it worse!
you have sought storage for said cars at relatives, friends, and anyone you know with a hiding spot that will your "find" until you can make room for it at home..often in other states at great distances..
you never make space for extra cars at home, the ones already there are to important to dispose of, and take up all the available room..though you have thought about digging out a wall of the foundation and adding a garage in the basement, like you saw on the net...
you will never trust one of "them" with your cars... and you really dont know who them is, just that it might be the dude wanting to buy the car on your front lawn, so you wont risk selling it to him/THEM...
^ ...you try talking your wife into liking some old, random car, just so you can get one in the garage...or on the lawn...or at your in-laws...or...

I'm up to 17 cars and 5 motorcycles (and enough parts to build 2 more) right now. I vowed to not get any more until I thin the herd out a bit, and just as I did that I ran into a really nice '02 Saab 9-5 that needs a timing chain and probably a head rebuild super cheap. I know I could fix it in a weekend and probably make $2k on it. Anyone want to buy a junk car or two! I want this freakin' Saab!
No (more) junk cars needed, but if it's a stick 9-5 Aero wagon I would be interested in the Saab - I'm looking for a replacement for my wife's Saab 9000 (and she refuses to drive an automatic - that's why I married her...)
You buy a property just to store the cars on.
Currently have 11, 5 running and 6 projects, yet I am still looking for more.
I have five cars in my name right now, three of them even run!
My automotive ADD tends to follow a predictable path. In the winter I get interested in things like trucks, subarus, etc that would be lots of fun in snow. Then in the spring miatas, jeeps, and motorcycles will strike my fancy. In the heat of summer I'll be looking at luxury cars and ridiculously expensive sports cars and boats. Fall is the time for finding winter beaters that I'll never buy or project cars that would never get finished.
Just this month I've been scrounging the internet (with no intention of actually buying anything...) for miatas, jeep wranglers, BMW E39 5s/E36 M3s/E38 7 series sports, RX8s, various cheap motorcycles, Lancer Evolutions, Imprezas, Camaros, Mustangs, old jags, z-cars, and pretty much anything with a manual transmission on ebay within 25 miles of my house lolz.
If I wasn't married I'd live in an RV parked in a warehouse with a bunch of quirky old cars. I'd probably be happier too.
I have the affliction as well, and think daily about whats next. I need the lease on my Jetta to end first (10 months left). I don't know whats next, but I'm leaning toward american with a column shifting auto. I share your pain, and good luck.
I have.... crapboxes, and i complain about them daily.
So naturally, i should be looking at something a little better, right?
Nope... every day, 5 times a day. Craigslist search for $0-$2000 w/ picture, just to see what comes up.
Today's neat-o find? A 2001 Mazda Millenia Supercharged with minor Cosmetic damaged for $2000.
DO WANT.
