I've heard that you can hack into Fire Sticks to get "additional content". I wonder how all of that works...

No experience with Fire stick, however I ditched cable 2 years ago and haven't looked back. I use netflix/hulu and amazon prime for tv watching. I do miss watching races from time to time but not enough to spend $75 extra a month. I also have an antenna for live local tv, I think I got it on groupon for $15 and it works like a champ, even my $7 radioshack one worked great.
OK I don't stream TV from he Amazon fire stick, but I watch youtube with it. IT SUCKS! I got it after my dog and cat decided to kill my Chromecast since it was supposed to be faster. It buffers a lot, slowly, and stops halfway through videos to buffer some more. The interface with the phone does not work very well, I have to turn on the fire stick, go to youtube on it, before it will work with my phone. Chromecast was flawless, hit the cast button on the phone and it came up on the TV just like it should.
Thats my rant.
called cable company. bill is going from $146.95 a month (basic HD cable and 50mb internet) to $49.95 for just the internet.

I've heard you can install something called "Kodi" on your Fire Stick. From there it is rumored you can side-load a video add-on called "Genesis" but that is all probably a bunch of fantasy stuff that never happens. Nope, never happens....

Huh, you are correct. Guess I need to update my fantasy novel and make an Exodus to something new...

clever. works well (allegedly). also; fusion dot tvaddons dot ag
i'm not looking to hack anything or get any services for free.
i activated watch espn with my cable login before it gets turned off when i take in the box tomorrow, we'll see how long that lasts. i'll still have a login due to cable internet, so we'll see if we get lucky.
watching cavs vs hawks right now on TNT via sling and the picture with the better fire box is way better than my cable box was.
got the antenna pretty situated. i had it pointed too far east, and i was getting what i assume was some sort of interference from having the cable line for the modem and the antenna line and splitter in the same box outside the house. i put the filter from the old cable line to the tv in front of the splitter and it took care of whatever interference was causing my wonky antenna picture.
the picture though... holy crap my cable box was junk. live sports is crazy nice
I'm in the Cleveland market too, and haven't had cable in 6 years. Check out http://www.antennaweb.org/Address for aiming help, or just point it toward Parma.

Thanks for that, i had it pointed toward all the giant antennas in seven hills but was getting the scrambling issues so pointed it towards downtown and still had them, thats when i figured out the filter was needed. Now I'm not getting channel 8, so going to go up on the roof on the next decent day and clock the antenna again.
In the end after subscribing to sling, I'll still be $77 a month less than cable.
