I made a last min trip out to see my sister in montery ca, just arrived and got 2 gen admission tickets for Fri sat.
I had no time to plan and have never been to this track.
Any tips on things to do or see? Only thing I need to do are see the cork-screw and walk the pits, but I don't want to regret missing anything.
Thanks,
Last minute mike.
Well it is a pretty awesome track. Run as a non-profit. I talked to a volunteer as his shirt said "medical," he knew all about the first aid stuff set up for spectators and racers, told me to volunteer because of my training, then stated he was a gynecologist, and just volunteered for the free tickets. I thought that was humerus, but made sense that he was just guarding a gate...
California and ALMS weekend made the parking lot one of the best car shows I have ever been to. I unfortunately had a dodge journey as it was the only rental left. Found out Hertz is rolling out Porche rentals in select cities, will have to do more research :-)
grass parking, gravel road, non vip parking..

This is really only special for us north easterners

trackside. My dad had one in lime green.

By far my favorite car, dirty wheels, dusty body and bird poop all over. This car was driven, not babied. Inspired me to get back on my cayman search, considering I no longer have a garage.

I'm so glad mazda is blasting this thing around the track, just so I could hear it.

I was really happy with the accessibility of the entire track. There were fences to prevent you from walking on track, but you could really watch from wherever you wanted. The last time I was at waltkins glen they had huge fences to catch the nascar run-off and save the fans, I remember going years ago and sitting in the boot with just a little chicken wire between me and the cars. I am glad laguna-seca does not have those horrible fences, and I am glad you can still wander wherever you want.

ALMS events are my favorite to go to, I just hope next year that kind of stuff stays.
When you leave the track (out the front entrance) take a left, then your first right onto Laurel Canyon Rd.---- it's a great drive that will take you over the hill. Once you get to Carmel Vally Rd. take a right and drive a few miles down to the Baja Cantina----- fantastic automotive-themed restaurant and bar. The food is great, the scenery wonderful (they have an Offy on display!) and the prices reasonable.
