It was pretty brutal here in central New York yesterday, but then I read that Mount Washington in North Conway, NH saw -110 degree wind-chill with wind gusts of 127 mph and suddenly I feel a lot warmer. That's hard to even wrap my head around. It was actually warmer on Mars than it was on Mount Washington.

Yeah, we had -45 last night here with the wind chill. I'm pretty glad to have my wood furnace. I've been out in a little colder but not much. Can't imagine what it would be like to be out in -100.
I guess I have to stop complaining about low 20s.
Minnesota looking downright tropical.

A friend of mine posted that on his facebook page as he has driven the hillclimb there.
Down here in Somersworth, NH -40 windchill and an ambient of -14 last night. As I type it is 8.
I've been up the Mt. Washington Auto Road a number of times. From a VW Scirocco to a Cayman S. It is sketchy in anything even when not racing up it.

I was talking about this with my father and he said his uncle was stationed in Alaska during WWII. On the subject of cold, his remark was "Once you get below -40, you stop being able to tell the difference. You just die faster."

There was a talk on JRE(can't remember which one) about how as soon as people hit like -35, they start making the most irrational decisions 'cause cold is messing with their mind. So kinda yeah, you just die faster :D
Coldest I've been to my memory is winter camping in Alaska like 2 or 3 years ago, -10 or -15F if I remember correctly, was basically sleeping in 2 bags+winter tent(at least warmest ones they've had in local outdoors store https://gritroutdoors.com/ ) and still barely made it through the night... I guess you need one of those compact stoves to actually do this for days or something :D
It was almost 200 degrees warmer in florida yesterday and it was still a little cool with shorts on. It was about 72.

I made this exact comment yesterday.

It's funny, I'm looking at my weather forecast here and hoping I can keep from turning the A/C on.
This makes me think of when a friend from the UK came and stayed with us some years back. They couldn't fathom the size of the US. This shows how diverse this country is.
Curious. I'm working in the garage today wearing a t-shirt. Current temp is 70 F.
