She was my very first TV crush.

The article said she's been in a MS coma for years. She'd lost the ability to walk in 2004 and the ability to talk in 2009. I saw her in special a while back and knew she was having trouble but I had never heard of any of these other issues.

I'll always remember her in Back to the Beach. Everything else was before my time.

Margaret Thatcher, now Annette Funicello... Can we hit the rule of 3 in just one day?

Kid - Not "Shirley", Surly... SURLY!!...Fine, From now on, call me Knife!
Sister - Nice? You wanna be called Nice? Shirley sounded tougher than Nice

My aunt was in one of the beach movies with her back in the day. Only one I remember was Back to the Beach.

I just saw this announced on the news 6:30 pm on monday....yet either by coincidence or because this happened on the weekend THIS-TV network had 3 different Annette movies this past weekend.

I grew up in the '50s and vaguely remember Mickey Mouse Club, didn't remember the Annette series that was a "show within a show", tho. Knew she has MS as I have an aunt that has it also. Didn't know that MS causes so many "problems" as it progresses, my aunt has difficulty walking.

Annette and Jeannie....both were not allowed to show navels in movies or tv, the '50s /'60s were so weird.

Of all Annette's and Frankie's movies, Back to the Beach was the best.

This freaked my wife (who has MS) out a good deal.

Yet another reason I ride the MS150 every year.
