Seems something happened with my firefox settings and its ticking me off. I have it set to open 5 tabs when I open it; facebook, mail, GRM, CL, and another forum. In the field for what tabs to open, its just those 5. But every time I open it, it includes a 6th empty "new tab." That alone isn't much of a pain, but everytime I have a link pop up in a new window, it opens two tabs and by default shows the "new tab" instead of the link I opened. Every time I click on something like an upload link and it opens a new window, it opens those two tabs.
Frustrating.
I figure its some setting somewhere that showed up after an update, but I can't figure it out.
Take this as a sign that it's time to switch to Chrome.
did you try unplugging it, then plugging it back in?

Should I hold the reset button for 10 seconds?
if all else fails, bring up the command prompt and type in "format:c"..
or doesn't that work any more?

Press the "any" key. If you can't find it, call tech support.
Does it do the same thing if you start Firefox in safe mode? (Firefox itself, not Windows).

don't know how to start FF in safe mode.

Fixed it. Opened in safe mode, still there. Opened in regular mode and everything was gone, cookies, passwords, history, everything.... along with one annoying new tab.
Haha well that wasn't supposed to happen, but at least it's fixed

Jiggle the antenna and maybe add some tin foil.
For future reference, I found an obscure reference to the fact that it might be a bug that happens when you select FF to be a default viewer for a file type. Like if Windows doesn't recognize the file type and asks you what program to use - if you select firefox to view it, a bug happens and causes that extra tab.
Firefox "updated" for me today, and now my flashblock and autocomplete add ons suddenly don't work any more... and they have a new default search window that isn't the google window i'm used to having. it's freakin yahoo search... but i just kinda sorta fixed that, but it seems like they want to keep reminding me that it's not their preferred search engine..
Yeah looks like Flashblock isn't compatible with Firefox 34 and later, and there are no updates out yet to fix it...
