Start with the ORIGINAL version of Hairspray, with Divine and Johnny Depp and Debbie Harry and Sonny Bono. Do NOT watch the new remake with John Travolta.

If you like that, watch Serial Mom and/or Cry-baby. Those three pretty much sum up midcareer/modern John Waters.

If you like those, watch Polyester . If you like THAT, and are in the mood to be grossed out, watch Pink Flamingos . If you're still going after that, start filling in anything else from the catalog.
