I've lived in my current area around 10 years now. Of course one of the first things I do in a new area is go scouting for barn finds. A few miles down the road there was a 54 chevy sedan delivery peeking out of a barn. Quite tatterd and rusty but salvageable at the time. The front end stuck out the "door" a bit and it was not protected from the weather.

Typical story, not for sale, gonna restore it someday, etc etc.

Last week my wife tells me "that old car you always watch is out of the barn and out by the street" Sure enough the next day I drive past and there's a for sale sign in the window. I didn't even need to get out of the car to tell it was too late, rust beat that one. Well today I'm driving home and passed just in time to see the last of it being sawzalled up and tossed in the back of a truck for scrap :(

Sad end to a cool car.

So many of those "gonna restore it someday" stories in the "_____ in the Barn" series of books. It's so frustrating. No, you really aren't going to restore it. Make some money while you can and let someone else realize your dream.

Lots of eighty-year-old dudes on oxygen tell themselves they're "gonna restore it someday." I can understand it. For a lot of people, unrealized dreams are all they've got to hold on to.
