What's wrong with utilizing factory rejects? It ought to be less wasteful than totally breaking down the plastics to re-make rubber bands.
It says in the last paragraph that it has been confirmed that rubberbands a woman purchased as hair ties were made with rejected AND used condoms.
One more reason I'm glad I'm a dude... and therefore don't need these. Because you know, who doesn't want to have a used condom holding their hair up? >.<

From the QC department, where they get a proper testing. Not kidding.

Pffft what's everyone crying about? That will make her hair real shiny!

They're collected at high school after-proms and college sorority houses. One company will begin collecting them from prisons: Rumpke.
Um, am I the only person that really doesn't have a problem with this practice? As long as you clean out the used condom, uh, "contents", there shouldn't be any contamination to speak of. Especially after they go through some sort of manufacturing process.

Maybe its not hazardous to health.... but its still disgusting.
I know this isn't the best analogy, but If I stick my c@ck in food that will later be nuked thus killing all germs would you still eat it?

They also state the possibility of condoms that had "reached their original intended market" and had been recycled after (ahem) use.
Are "sewer shrimp" somehow related to " white mice" found in the same environment?
